Default Cheapest way to buy UK blus to ship to Australia?

Zavvi seems sometimes quite good prices but they take MONTHS to ship and no communication. Otherwise all I know is Amazon and specialists like Eureka and Arrow which aren't cheap. Any advice? It always costs me nearly twice as much for most UK blu rays as I pay for blu rays over here but so many just aren't available in Aus. They're more expensive just with currency conversion rates and the shipping makes it worse.

sometimes base.com is good for single item orders.

How does this work? And would it somehow end up cheaper?

You find a member on these forums who would buy what you want from UK stores and ship to you in Australia. Someone may be happy to help if you would buy and ship Australian titles for them in return.

It would be unlikely to be cheaper unless you are buying from somewhere which does not ship to Australia or charges a lot for delivery like Network. This is because whoever you are buying from would be paying the normal retail price of Amazon, Zavvi or HMV and then would need to add on shipping costs on top.

Your problem and we have issue in reverse here in UK, is shipping UK to Australia has increased in cost dramatically in recent years. Plus the Australian currency is much weaker than it was a few years ago because of the commodities crash.

What I do for Australian discs is get relatives to remove the plastic box and just send the disc and sleeve in an envelope and then just use another box when it arrives. Perhaps someone here could do that? Wouldn't work so well with anything other than a standard release tho.

This. I've done similar with people in the US for Record Store Day exclusives and boxes of random sweets.

One thing I think you will find is that it is a fair bit faster and cheaper to send to the UK from Australia than the other way around.

Odd considering it is uphill
