i bought this for 269.is it able to do pcm?i have ps3 and sony kds 60 a2000.not a whole lot of info on this series of receiver

Have you tried looking up crutchfield.com? Maybe there is info on there for your reciever. If not try looking up soundandvisionmag.com, they archive reviews. If neither of them do, the only other place I can think of is EBay. You can look for the model you have and read the description to get the info you might need. Good luck.

if it has HDMI - it should be able to do PCM. You have to enable it through the settings sometimes in your player, and possibly in your receiver's menu system itself.

I have the STR-DG810 and yes it does do PCM. When you first turn on our PS3 it will come up PCM 48 on the receiver.

the 710 will not do 5.1 uncompressed pcm. only 2 channel uncompressed pcm.

the 810 as stated above will do the 5.1 uncompressed.

I personally recommend the DG910, which upconverts all input to HDMI and has 7.1 setup instead of the 6.1 set up on the 810. As someone else mentioned, the 710 doesn't processs 5.1 PCM over HDMI, but the 810 and 910 both do. The 910 can be had for 330 plus shipping from JR.
