The Village - Blu-ray Forum

Every other Shyamalan film is on blu-ray, but not the Village. I would say it is far more deserving than Lady in the Water.

Even if you disliked the movie, you must at least admit that it would look rather beautiful in high definition. But seeing how we are all film fans, I can't be the only one who appreciates this movie.

Roger Deakins is the best living cinematographer. Everytime I think he can't possibly get any better, he does No Country For Old Men. And then I saw The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, HOLY CRAP! I don't think any D.P. compares to his craft. I thought I would hate The Village, but Roger Deakins made a beautiful movie that I need to watch again and again.

This movie makes me cry. It's so sad. That "slow" fella just wants to be loved. Johnny Cash was also great in it.

I also am eagerly anticipating this highly underrated film. I can't wait for the day that The Village is released on Blu-ray.

This is probably one of my favorite Shyamalan films (I'd say it's tied with Signs and Unbreakble, with Lady In The Water coming in after that). I'd love to see (and hear) this on Blu-ray. The score is fantastic (one of my favorites), the acting is fantastic, I love the dialogue, William Hurt is amazing in it... I hope they release this soon!

The acting always seemed weird in this movie.. but then once you realize the twist it kind of makes sense. I think it would have been received better critically if M Night did not do it .. because everyone was expecting a twist. This is a movie that would have been much better if no one even knew a twist was coming.

Personally, I found the "twist" for this movie to be terribly depressing. Not because it's a dumb "twist" or anything (to me it's genius) but the reasons for the "twist" (if that makes sense... I am trying to give anything way for the people that haven't seen the movie...)

The twist, the story and the acting didn't cut it for me. Why put one of the best actors of his generation in the role of a mental retard? Brody's gift is how he underacts his roles, and M Night gave him a character that demanded overacting. Hurt's performance was terrible but the script didn't give him much to work with. Sorry to be so negative--I know some really like this film.

The Village is my second favorite Shyamalan film after Sixth Sense.
The only other one I kinda like is Unbreakable (and only kinda).
The rest have sucked.
I have been warned off of The Happening.

I look forward to him directing something he didn't write.

That's pretty much the exact opposite of how I felt about the movie except for Brody's character. It did require him to overact, but I didn't think he did a poor job or anything.

I agree that he didn't do a poor job; he's a great actor. My point is that the role doesn't require a great actor because anyone out of acting school has figured out how to overact like that...it's what made the Tropic Thunder advice to actors to "never go full retard" so funny. So Brody's talents were totally wasted on the part. He's capable of so much more than "full retard". No offense; I'm just quoting Tropic Thunder.

I want this on blu aswell, I though it was excellent.
This is my 3rd favorite M.S. film.

1. Signs
2. Lady In The Water
3. The Village
4. The Happening
5. Unbreakable

And I did not like The Sixth Sense. Yeah shocking I know.

There's been several movies my girlfriend has talked me into watching, Titanic-I liked it, didnt watch it for a while because I was so sick of all the hype about it when it came out that I refused to watch it. Plus I couldnt stand Leonardo Decaprio until I saw The Departed. She got me to watch Rock Star- really liked it, Jennifer Aniston looked great in that one. But The Village? Oh my god that was weird. Wasnt too bad, just weird. I dont think I could watch it again.
