Just saw this one. Wow, truly great film. Does not even have a bluray release. I highly recommend it to anyone.

I thought this film was good. I'm not really praising it but it was a solid 3.5/5 for me.
I agree with the first part of that review. I think it deserves a watch, but I don't see much re-watch value. That shouldn't dictate how good a film is though. |

Christopher Abbott and Cynthia Nixon are amazing in this. Worth seeing for their performances alone.

I actually enjoy films where it's lead character is an unlikable *******. We can't all be perfect.

"What am I supposed to do?"
Just seen it. Very well acted by Christopher Abbott and Cynthia Nixon. The drama is centered around James White (Abbott) who is dealing with the recent loss of his father and the caring for his cancer-suffering mother (Nixon) and especially with his self-destructive behaviour. This sounds very heavy and it is thematically-wise, but fortunately Josh Mond directed a very well crafted spotlight on a clearly defined part of James' life with a glimpse of hope, so it didn't pull me down too much. On first sight the main character is not very likeable, but I think there is more behind the surface and I can relate to him in some kind as well. Scott Mescudi has a supporting role, did a quite impressing job and I later learned that he is "Kid Cudi" and he also contributed a nice instrumental piece to the soundtrack. Furthermore he's on of the killers in Shia LaBeoufs great short "Maniac" (2011). 8/10 I liked or loved everything that came out of the Campos/Durkin/Mond/Pesce-connection so far: Martha Marcy May Marlene, Simon Killer, Christine, The Eyes of my Mother |
