3DGO is ending its service on April 17.

3DGO, the smart TV 3D movie rental app from Sensio, is ending its service.

In an e-mail, sent out with very short notice to users of the app, said:

We regret to announce that after nearly three years 3DGO! will cease its operations on April 17th 2016. You will be able to rent 3D movies until April 15th at Midnight Eastern time.

Rentals made on April 15th will still offer the usual 48 hours viewing window and be accessible in your “Current Rentals” section in the 3DGO! app. However please note that you won't be able to keep the rented movies beyond April 17th if unwatched at that time. Your account information will remain accessible until May 16th 2016, at which point all credit card data will be destroyed.

It’s been a true pleasure offering you the best in Hollywood 3D entertainment over the years. We hope you’ve enjoyed our service and that we’ve contributed to making your movie nights special!

Too bad they couldn't expand their service beyond just apps for certain models of TVs. I would've loved to rent Hondo.

I would expect to see more announcements over the next six months regarding all of the remaining 3D services offered by cable and the like... Just a gut feeling.

Time to make that last ditch effort this weekend to screen "Hondo" and, of all things, "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never" (sue me, it was released theatrically and there's no other way to see it in 3D!).

They also have a few titles that only received the anaglyphic 3D Blu/DVD treatment:

I had the unfortunate experience of seeing Jackass 3D in theaters (The 3D was good). I'm devastated that I'll be missing those teen pop movies though.

Not bad, the limitations of streaming caused a few stutters and not as sharp an HD picture as I'd expected...but it was allot of fun. A few good popouts (an arrow, a spear and the knife fight had a few great moments), with fairly good layering and depth. Unbelievable that there isn't a 3D Blu. I'd pick it up in a heartbeat. Is this available on any other streaming service or for purchase?

Of all the streaming devices I have, NONE supported 3DGo. They don't even let you access Vudu's 3D movies. If streaming services give up on 3D it won't be for lack of consumer interest, but lack of consumers even being able to get to it!

I have 3D-Go on my Vizio 3-d model tv (one of the last ones) and I am indeed sorry to see it go.
It's MY fault, really. I rarely used the service and put off watching "Hondo" until it was too LATE! Arghh!
It was a good way to "audition" 3-D films before purchase. I ordered "Big Hero 6" from the UK after being so delighted with the 3D-Go presentation that I watched the film in its entirety twice in my 24-hour rental period.
Here's hoping that perhaps Fandango, who has taken over M-Go, will do the same for 3D-Go.
We can hope.
