These amazon sign-ups don't mean much - I signed up to be told when Witchblade becomes available on DVD almost a year ago, and have heard nothing. However I do think everyone should sign up to be notified because there is a slim chance they will pay some attention to how many have done so.

In a few years when there are more owners with BD players. The current sales are pathetic. Lucas would be crazy to release it with the sales so low. To maximize his profits he needs to wait a few years before releasing it.

"So, I'm thinking of releasing a new version of Star Wars for the high-def formats... Only this time, I want to replace all footage completely with CG/crayon drawings."

I'll only buy it if it's a fully restored version of the original theatrical cuts of the first trilogy as seen in 1977, 1980, and 1983. All the rest is PURE CRAP.

If they want to clean up the matte lines, but leave everything else alone, that's fine by me.

But Georgey boy really doesn't give a poodoo about what his fans want. Looks like I'll be holding on to the laserdiscs for a looooooong time and find a backup LD player when mine dies.

Lucas and Spielberg ALWAYS wait for market penetration before releasing their babies.

ALWAYS.

Sorry but that rumor is not true STar wars does not have a slated release any time in the future-I don't expect any announcements for several years-and def. not when there is a format war still going on.

I wish Star Wars was never invented. It was ok and all, but I certainly won't be swooning to pick it up. Probably never will. Got tired of the re-release, after re-release, after re-release. Clearly, when someone is in it just for the money, my support will no longer be there.

Star Wars did move a big step forward in being released on Blu-Ray with the recent BD+ announcement. Lucas guards his IP like a hawk and by releasing this additional layer of protection its going to relax him a bit. Fox will start putting out more titles as will BVE

It took 7 years to get Star Wars on DVD, partially because Lucas was sure HD formats were right around the corner

I believe we will have SW on BR after he does the IMAX re-releases. After that we can commence with the whining that he's changed the movies again

For me as long as Han shoots first, I'm good

Star Wars coming by the end of the year this is nothing more than a pipedream. I doubt 1-3 will even be the original versions. Look how long it took that to come to SD, and even then it was only stereo and non-anamorphic video. Then again, who knows. Lucas will try and drain the fans' wallets as he has done in the past. How many times have they been released and then re-released?

My thoughts are that a DVD box set of all six movies will be out later this year, with some kind of extras that haven't been released before so the fans feel they must buy it.

As HD versions of all six movies have already been shown on HD tv channels it is only a matter of time before they get a blu-ray release, and it will be blu-ray thanks to Fox being an exclusive supporter.

They'll be out, but not just yet. Will I buy them? Course I will !!!!
