On Netflix these effects are gone. They pan to the cutouts and we only hear the voices. I think some of the recent TV airings are like this too. Just curious are these effects missing from this scene on the BD set???

Checking...no lips moving at all, just bad imitations.

That's really weird that two versions exist of that o__O I wonder why that is.

Anyway, I've watched up through the first disc of season 6 and haven't had any major playback issues or anything. Overall I'm pretty satisfied with this set.

I watched the entire set over Christmas and thought it was great. Not sure why all the hate for this set but I was pleased and happy with the price I got it for.

Would I be right in thinking that getting the German version would be best or would the same issues that plague the US version be there too? The price difference is very little but I want to ensure I get the best version.

It is 100% the subtitles for me. One of my favorite series of all time. Cancelled my preorder as soon as I saw that.

German version is superior to the Mill Creek release, I compared and viewed both and there is no comparison.

Donna is good looking, but I still prefer Jackie. And she only got hotter as the show went on! I'm almost done watching through the show, got a few more episodes left.

Season 8 is... okay. Not great but not AWFUL either lol.

Yeah I also personally find Jackie sexier than Donna annoying and spoiled as she may be (Jackie, not Mila). Catholic School Donna was pretty sexy though.

I could see that being off-putting. Especially because their first two standalone season releases had them. But I'm used to catalogue releases having no subtitles compared to big budget current releases, so it didn't really bother me.

Because it was likely don't in post-production with CGI and they likely went back to the original 35mm film to redo the HD versions -- forgetting to redo the effect. It's unfortunate but apparently common when redoing 100+ episodes of a series for HD. See the horrendous Buffy remaster -- imagine if almost every episode of That 70's Show was missing something or color-timed wrong, etc.

I finally finished the show the other day! Probably would've finished sooner but I've been watching through other shows too (that way I don't get bored watching ONE show lol).

Didn't have any playback issues on anything and didn't notice any major glitches. I'd say other than lack of subtitles and the silly "episdode" spelling error, this is a pretty damn nice set. The discs have actual artwork, the cover is awesome. Them being in "album sleeves" could be an issue if you aren't careful, but they're Blu-ray Discs. Scratch-resistant and all that.

My one disappointment is That 70's musical which seems to be sourced from a lot of SD material like over 50%. Granted some of the episodes use the SD clips I am assuming because the HD or 35mm source material is not available.
