And for that matter who still uses it once in a while?
I'm moving to an apartment in a matter of time and I'm getting a new TV for the living room. And the specs implies it has Component/composite cable hook ups so I can hook up an old VHS player to it. So I'm planning on actually watching old VHS tapes here and there, like the STAR WARS TRILOGY that I still have. I'm also planning on buying a good few old school VHS tapes of movies I enjoy for that very reason. |

Now, I have a ton of (previously) blank VHS tapes that I recorded game shows on from Game Show Network, CBS, and syndication from 1993-2007. Shows like The Price Is Right (Bob Barker, CBS, 1972-2007) The Nighttime Price Is Right (Tom Kennedy, syndication, 1985-1986) The New Price Is Right (Doug Davidson, syndication, 1994-1995) Family Feud (Ray Combs, CBS and syndication, 1988-1994) Family Feud (Richard Dawson, syndication, 1994-1995) Card Sharks (Bob Eubanks, CBS, 1986-1989) Card Sharks (Bill Rafferty, syndication, 1986-1987) Match Game (Gene Rayburn, CBS and syndication, 1973-1982) Match Game (Ross Shafer, ABC, 1990-1991) I also have a small collection of LaserDiscs and HD DVDs. |

I still have quite a few VHS tapes, lots of them containing stuff I recorded myself (full runs of a couple different shows, movies off cable, miscellaneous compilations, etc.) but also some pre-recorded stuff. Unfortunately, my last player crapped out several years ago, and I finally got rid of it recently. I'd love to find another one but they're all combo players now that make them pricier than I'd prefer to pay just to get the VHS player.
If I could find a good player again, though, I'd definitely get one and keep it hooked up for occasional VHS-fueled nostalgia trips. ![]() |

Me! I still pop some old WWF tapes into the old VCR once in a blue moon, as well as some old home videos of my childhood and even my parents' wedding ceremony.
Do you have a CVS or Walgreen's store near you? They transfer VHS to DVD for a fee of I think $20-ish. |

I still have a VCR hooked up to another TV I rarely watch, but I've been thinking of getting back into collecting old horror VHS tapes. I have a lot of bootlegs I have no interest in, and I'd mostly be collecting old tapes for the artwork and titles that can't be found on other formats.
Once I set up an actual theater/TV room, I may put more thought into this. Right now I'm more interested in bulking up my blu-rays since I want to get those closer to matching the number of DVDs I own. |

I still have a VHS player and some tapes, but they're collecting dust. I have some amateur filmmaking stuff I did in school that I never transferred over to digital. Should probably do that.
My small collection of movies that are on VHS are all on Blu and DVD now, so no loss there. |

I haven't had a VCR since 1996, when mine broke & I never got it fixed. Wasn't that much of a movie fan at the time, and most of the VHS tapes I watched were rentals - so, I never missed it that much.
I'm surprised anyone's VHS player still works these days. This is extremely outdated/inferior tech. |

I still have a VCR and it still works. In fact, it's still hooked up to one of my TVs, simply because there was a space in my unit and it was better than it taking up storage space elsewhere in the house. I still have one commercial VHS tape which holds a lot of sentimental value:

cleaning out the basement and found a few VHS tapes. (we got rid of the VHS player and tapes a few years back).
2 important VHS box sets I found...Star Wars ORIGINAL Trilogy (the untouched ones) and Star Wars Special Edition Trilogy (the updated Lucas stuff) and i stared at them and thought, well, i can't really watch these now. |

I bought two VCR players off eBay last year, first one was DOA, the second works. Got them to digitize some tapes that have never seen the light of day on DVD or Blu-ray (in the US):
Lunch Box (1992) Body Waves (1992) Malibu Bikini Shop (1986) Fat Boys 3 x 3 (1988) On my next trip home (parents live over 2,000 miles away) I am going to go through their old VHS collection. I'm hoping they still have our TV recordings of the two "Ewok Adventures" movies. |
