Default An American Carol

Can someone who has seen this give me a mini review? I like almost everyone involved in this, and the previews look pretty funny.

My parents and aunt and uncle saw it and they all liked it a lot. My uncle, who generally does not like movies, thought it was really good and very funny. As of late, most parody movies are completely horrible IMO but based on their reviews I think I'll see it.

This is why I was holding off until I got some feedback. I might just have to check it out.

I want to see that movie so badly also. Hopefully I'll have time later this week.

I know I'll probably get yelled at, but in case anyone doesn't know, An American Carol is made for Republicans. It casts 'liberals' as America-hating nutjobs. Definitely a niche film. Fox News loves it.

Being a Canadian, I'll skip starting a flame war about U.S. politics.

But before anyone barks at me for commenting on a country I don't live in, I remind you that neighbouring America is like sleeping next to an elephant: You're directly affected by every little move it makes.

I thought it was a direct parody of Michael Moore(?). He is not a typical Liberal. But I'm only speaking of what I've read of the film as I've yet to see it.

I'm not criticizing the film, because I haven't seen it. But the gist of its actual production is that it was specifically created, funded and cast with, by and for conservative Republicans. That's completely on the record and the filmmakers have stated that publicly.

The Michael Moore thing would just be sort of the most obvious target of this type of movie, that's all. Moore is pretty much understood to be the 'famous' symbol of the Left while someone like Bill O'Reilly or Rush Limbaugh might be the equivalent on the Right.

I personally feel that political humour only works when it skewers everybody. Bob Roberts is a good example.

I saw the movie today. They use the scrooge theme. The main character is visited by three ghost to show him what he has done wrong. It does paint liberals as America-hating nutjobs, but as FEP3108 said the truth hurts. I enjoyed the movie it was funny. I had to go see it just to support the guys in Hollywood that had the balls to make the movie over there in liberalville.

As if the right wing nutjobs who have run this country into the ground the past eight years LOVE this country more than the left? I don't think so. This kind of rhetoric is getting old and in the way like McCain, and simply not a valid comment or argument any longer. Time to move on.....and talk about blu-ray.

Okay, right or left, let's not bring politics in here, please (calling people "nutjobs").

American Carol was a very funny movie, and if you feel the way I feel about America, you will enjoy it immensley. If you are more left-leaning, I doubt it will convert you - you will either think everything is warm or just dumb.
