On a side note, I purchased the 6 films on iTunes and the 5 DMA films ported into Amazon with extras. So you'd have iTunes Extras and Amazon Bonus Features (just not on episode 4 on Amazon). Just fyi.

Are there different extras on Vudu compared to iTunes then?

I don't believe they're any different but I'm not sure. Extras on VUDU are kind of a pain, but I wanted to make sure I had them at my disposal no matter what platform I was using at the time. It seems iTunes and Amazon are both good about giving you extras regardless of where you bought it (Amazon wasn't part of DMA when I got the collection).

You can also view the extras directly through DMA apps IIRC.

But if I purchase them on Vudu, I'll get DMA points and all 6 films will flow to iTunes, yes?

All except A New Hope because Disney doesn't own that movie, Fox does. It isn't DMA. If you go to the DMA website it actually tells you it isn't DMA. So you'll only get ANH for whichever store you get it from. If you buy from iTunes, you won't get ANH on Vudu and vice versa.

Ah, that makes sense. Thanks.

Just for the sake of collection organizing, if you buy the 6-film collection as a whole on iTunes, when the 5 films flow to Vudu do they show up individually? Or does it show up as the Star Wars Collection and it's just missing A New Hope?

If you buy from iTunes, it shows up individually. I know because I bought it. You don't get any fancy collection cover art, just the individual movies.

I've recently moved to digital from blu Rays and have been thinking about selling my blu Ray box set and buying the digital collection. What are the extras like on the iTunes Extras set, do they include the same extras, new ones or none? Also I plan to use vudu credits to buy the digital set in Vudu, am I correct in thinking that episode 4 will not transfer to iTunes so I will have to purchase that separately in iTunes itself?

I've posted elsewhere on the forums with the suggestion that iTunes Extras becomes a part of the database of this site. I for one, would find this knowledge incredibly useful prior to making any iTunes purchase.

As can be seen from the below, very little from the Blu-Ray set isn't part of the Digital Package, which is great news. And with some of the DVD content, this is becoming quite the compendium of a package. It would be amazing if they did add the rest of the DVD content and then carried on developing new extras down the line. I wouldn't even be averse to paying an upgrade fee for further extras as I can't foresee a home video industry that enables perpetual free upgrades.

Anyhow, here's the content from the iTunes Digital Collection. If this site enables the Extras feature, I'll be sure to copy it over.

Yes, you would have to purchase "A New Hope" separately on iTunes, since the Vudu version would be UV and not DMA, unlike the other five Star Wars films in the collection.

I feel the digital versions are worth owning, even if they aren't a definitive release (no Star Wars release ever is). It's missing the "Empire of Dreams" documentary from the DVD box set and excludes the unaltered original cuts of each film (yes, even the prequels have been changed since theaters), but almost everything else is included, plus some new stuff.

Hope that helps!

Do you think with the release of The Force Awakens that it will be added to the collection? Making it $150 Canadian!!! I hope not, Then I'll only have a few days to buy it, I'll never pay that with the digital code coming out. I got burned last week with the Tarantino collection jumping $20 because of The Hatefull Eight.

It's certainly a possibility.

I finally have enough VUDU credits to purchase the 6-film Bundle...and i realize i will need to also buy ANH on iTunes since my main viewing for digital is via 3rd Gen AppleTV.

With that said, does anyone expect a bundle sale on this any time before the end of the year (on VUDU). I know I just missed the sale a few months back with the release of TFA digitally

Thanks in advance!

Personally I would wait for it to go on sale again. Especially since these are movies we've seen so many times and can easily rent or borrow a copy if you need a quick fix.

I forgot to mention, I have the Blurays of these. But digital is so convenient...especially when you've loaned out your bluray collection a few months back and waiting on a return and the kids want to watch the BIG Star Wars...with Vader in it. (whichever one that is coming from a 3-year old).

I was hoping to see a May 4th sale, but no luck. Guessing the next sale would be near November/December, if not for the holidays for the Rogue One release.

**But thank you for the reply**

Looks like iTunes has the 6-film bundle for $75
I was hoping VUDU would match it (or better) but they seem to have it for $85

For those considering other providers, Amazon also has the digital bundle for $75. Microsoft has it for $80. Google Play has no discount.
