Default PS3 browser

Is it possible to download Flash player for the PS3? A dispute with Time Warner has my local NBC station unavailable via cable at the moment and I would like to stream my Heroes episodes to my TV via NBC.com.

I hope Sony comes out with Google Chrome for the PS3. Plus if your wondering why Google Chrome Sony has a partnership with Google and the other web browsers are less likely be on the PS3.

If the PS3 could have the functionality of a real web browser, I wouldn't care who it came from.

Right now its using netfront, sony has the sdk and there sorta building off on the netfront browser.

When they started this, netfront only supported Flash Lite, which is a flash player designed for mobile browsers.

You know, I've been wondering for while now why the PS3 web browser does not support the latest flash. Does anyone know? Is it a liscensing issue or is it a hardware issue?

I think it's an Adobe not developing it issue.

So is what you're saying Shin Ra is that it's Adobe's responsibility to adapt Flash Player to the PS3 browser and not Sony's responsibility to adapt the browser to be compatible with Flash Player?

I wouldn't say that. I think Shin-Ra was answering your previous question. The reason that others support it and the PS3's doesn't is because Adobe doesn't develop for it. That doesn't mean it is Adobe's fault entirely. Considering the relativly small base what incentive does Adobe have to develop for it? IMHO Sony hold's part of the responsibility in providing an incentive for Adobe to support it.

Just my thoughts.

Actually Shin-Ra is correct Adobe would have to develop the flash player and they have yet to develop a player for this processor type, there are other computers that are being hit by this wall as well.

adobe chooses not to do any console browser support. to keep the market controlled.

opera tried to enable some stuff for the wii browser, and adobe threw the book at them.

As far as I have been able to figure out, the PS3's internet browser is HORRIBLE for doing anything I want to do.

Just absolute garbage.

The browser is potentially so useful, I just don't understand why Sony ignores this huge flaw!! Fix the flash video playback, just do it!!!

Adobe has been trying to get Apple to use Flash in MobileSafari for ages.
