Just Visiting (2001)

It's 12th century France and Count Thibault of Malfete (Jean Reno) finds his beautiful bride-to-be (Christina Applegate) done in by malevolent magic. So he and his loyal servant Andre (Christian Clavier) request the help of a local wizard to right the wrong and bring his beloved back. But the wizardry goes awry and the pair is transported to 21st century Chicago where they meet Thibault's descendant Julia (Applegate) and her scheming fiancé. With their timeless values of honor and courage, they wreak havoc as they foil diabolical plots in modern-day Chicago and try to find their way back home.

Christina Applegate is so cute in this movie. I know it's a remake, but it's very enjoyable and for 7 bucks, you could do worse. Looking forward to retiring my DVD and getting this next week.

I just got my copy today and can confirm that it is locked to region A - it won't work on my region B player.

The Kino disc, oddly enough, has opening narration by Jean Reno instead of the Kelsey Grammer narration that the Mill Creek disc has, and for whatever reason the subtitles reflect the Grammer narration instead.

The transfer is also different from the Mill Creek disc, it doesn't have the brightness cranked up too high.

Always wanted to check this out. Also curious how Life with Mikey compares to the version on the MC double feature. Watched that one a good bit as a little kid.

Looks like the new Kino disc has a 5.1 audio track and extras compared to the DD 2.0 and featureless Mill Creek disc. Also a BD-50 vs BD-25. I will upgrade this one.
