Default Metalstorm - The Destruction of Jared-Syn 3D (Scream Factory) - 13th September, 2016

Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared-Syn 3D Blu-ray

Quote:
**NEW TITLE ANNOUNCE**

Get ready to experience the third dimension retro-style. 1983’s METALSTORM: THE DESTRUCTION OF JARED-SYN will be coming to Blu-ray for the first on September 13th. And, yes, it will be in presented in 3-D as it was originally back during its theatrical release!

A miner and his daughter Dhyana (Kelly Preston) fall prey to the evil dictator Jared-Syn's reign of terror. Dogen (Jeffrey Byron) the brave peacekeeping ranger, must save Dhyana and the rest of her planet from the of Jared-Syn (Mike Preston), his son, Baal (R. David Smith), and the hideous Cyclopean warlord, Hurok (Richard Moll). If Dogen does not find Dhyana in time, she will be sacrificed to Jared-Syn's strange life-giving crystal.

Directed by Empire Pictures founder Charles Band (Parasite, Trancers) and also features his Trancers star Tim Thomerson (Near Dark, Fade to Black).

Proud to say I saw this in the theater! You know you're in for a treat when there's a shot of a fortress with the subtitle "Bad Guy Headquarters"!!

Hahahaha. Awesome. I used to love this movie when I was a kid, and I've had a hankering to revisit it. As long as the option exists to watch the film in 2D (and I'm sure there will be such an option), I'm in.

Holy crap - I can't believe Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared-Syn is actually hitting Blu! I was a kid when this was released, and remember seeing in the theater back in Summer '83 - can't believe it's been 33 years since this came out.

I only plan on getting this if it's in 2D as well as 3D; have no interest in watching this in 3D again.

I honestly don't remember if I've ever seen this on regular DVD; if so, it's been years.

My first thought as well when I just saw the news on FB. I know they're different studios but I would love Spacehunter on Blu-ray.

Meh. I have over 200 sci-fi titles from the 80's on my wish list, but alas this is not one of them. Would be interested in Spacehunter, though. To say nothing of a double bill with Android and Creature/Titan Find...

Holy smokes, another 80's 3D flick getting released this year! Super excited about this actually getting put out in 3D. Hopefully Spacehunter is around the corner too.

I have the DVD. stoked when that finally came out but revisiting this flick, it does not hold up well. But I love 80's sci-fi cheese, so maybe. I thought Jeffrey Byron's other 80's cheeseball fest, The Dungeonmaster, was much better.

Huh? I saw Metalstorm in theaters and many times on cable on video. No such subtitle appeared nor did Jared-Syn have a fortress.

I've owned Metalstorm on Beta, VHS, Laserdisc, DVD, and bootleg field sequential DVD.

Yeah, the movie is a favorite guilty pleasure of mine!

It'll be so nice to see this on my 80" screen in WIDESCREEN 3D!

I assume that when these old 3D movies are released on Blu-ray (like Friday the 13th Part 3 and Jaws 3), we can choose between 3D and 2D? Not everybody has a 3D-capable TV.

Maybe he's thinking of Megaforce? I used to get it and Metalstorm mixed up all the time.

Will this be Shout Factory's first 3D blu ray release?

I'm a sucker for gimmicky 3D so I hope this ends up being good!

Yes. If you don't have a 3D setup the disc probably won't even give you the option of 3D.

There have been other 3D titles from Shout Factory like Humpback Whales, Flight of the Butterflies, and Journey to Space, but I know you don't care about those.

A title you would care about is Amityville 3-D. What's good is that Shout Factory did put it out on Blu-ray 3D. What's bad is that you have to buy The Amityville Horror Trilogy box set to get it because Amityville 3-D is only available in that set.

Good news, and from an unlikely source.

Here's the thread devoted to the film in the 3-D section:
