It's the creative team behind The Legend of Korra along with the same animation studio. That's enough to sell me on this show and give it a chance.

I watched the entire season this afternoon and it was fantastic. Easily the best Voltron show ever (I count the original 52 episode dub as Golion). It had a perfect mix of drama and comedy and the characters are all likable. The twist they did with Pidge was really neat too and unexpected. I also like how much stronger Allura is while Coran is taking some time to get used to. He has some really great one liners though. Hunk is probably my favorite of the bunch though. Oh and I like how they actually gave Keith a personality. On the other hand, while badass, Zarkon and Hagar do pretty much nothing until the final episode. In fact, they aren't even developed in the slightest throughout the 13 episodes (I'm counting the premier as 3 episodes), which really sucks. Lotor isn't even in the damn thing. Another thing that was pretty neat though is they are even using some of the Japanese names such as Allura and Coran being from Altea and Zarkon rules the Galra Empire. A nice little homage there. This does to the Voltron franchise what the more recent Thundercats show did to that series. I can't wait for the second half to premier later on this year as the cliff hanger was really frustrating (in a good way). I'll most likely buy this series on BD when it comes out.

Oh, and I found it quite enjoyable that Voltron wasn't being used every episode. In fact, I think there was a moment when 3 episodes went by before they even used him.

Oh I binged this today as well....as a loyal, die-hard fan of Voltron, this is worthy of carrying the franchise forward and was fun to watch. I have faith in the creative direction writing, character development wise. Visually it was a treat. As fan of good series, anime or cartoons or live action....this is one to watch with your family for sure. It had heart and some neat twists on old characters and some good themes. The opening song is fine, it's millions miles better than Force was. Even my wife joined in on watch the the last half of the series and asked to watch it again next weekend and she's not even into Voltron and she really dug it. This is a series that is in it for the long haul.....and I'm curious to see where it's going. It felt old, new and exciting all at once. I couldn't be happier.

This is simply outstanding. The ratio of comedy, action, and drama is excellent. The animation looks great and the sound is awesome. I hope this starts a trend of more animated shows from my childhood being brought back in such quality. Netflix just keeps building their library and becoming more and more essential.

Is that Norman Reedus voicing Rolo? It's not listed on IMDB. Nyma sounds familiar too, but I can't place it.

The show is great, yellow paladin reminds me a lot of Bolin from Legend of Korra in looks and personality which makes sense since its the same people that worked on that show as well.

I'm in e9 and so far loving it. Nostalgia in 2016 FINALLY done right.

Makes me wish there was a hope of seeing Mighty Orbots again, but I know there isn't.

Yeah, and Pidge is voiced by the girl from Arrow and Scream.

Oh, and Hagar is voiced by the woman who was Suzie in Rugrats, Terry's friend Max in Batman Beyond, among many other voices.

Cree Summer, us oldies would remember her form A Different World LOL.

I'm on Episode 8, enjoying the hell out of it. My kids like it too, my 6 year old commented "whoever drawed this did a good job daddy."

About the only thing I don't like is Coran. They took a very noble character and made him the comedy. Hunk = Cyborg from the Teen Titans show, the heart and the comedy. Loved the twist with Pidge. Still not sure on Shiro, maybe he won't
[Show spoiler]be long term and Keith will grow into the leader role.

Love the princess, far less annoying than he original interpretation.

Watched it over the weekend. What a great show! The comedy works well and the animation is great. I really have to praise the music and sound effects. They were implemented perfectly. Rhys Darby as Coran is my favourite part of the show. Maybe it's just his voice but I love it.

My main quibble happens in the pilot ep. Allura says the lions choose their pilots but then immediately goes on to say which lion goes with each pilot. Just seemed to undermine that bond the pilots and lions will have.

I think the weakest episode was Crystal Venom. I thought
[Show spoiler]opening the malfunctions with a kitchen hose spraying green goo at Hunk
was just really dumb.

Aside from that, really loved the series! I can't wait for more.

Yes, I also had the same quibble, but after seeing the rest of the episodes it makes sense that she can know who would be chosen by each lion since she has a connection to other things like the balmera and that is a part of the live technology for the lions and the tech from her planet.

Also for people that alreay watched the season:
[Show spoiler]is Zarkon the original black paladin based on the episode with the same title and his speaking/pulling power to the lion? why did they never mentioned it to the earth paladins

Well. ...
[Show spoiler] I thought it was pretty obvious. As for the why. ... foreshadowing of a much larger story. The pilots are the entry way into this space opera. There is a lot going on. Something about Haggar and her druids seems off. They appear to be supremely powerful. Like any good villain, I think she's got her own end game and Zarkon is a pawn.
