Default Dolby ATMOS/DTS:X Systems-Vote!

Howdy people, there has been plenty discussion on the title matter for these new audio codecs/enhancements. I'm wondering how many folks do or do not have them and if so, why type.

Please vote and post comments based on your vote.
[Show spoiler]This will be my first time creating a voting poll, so, I hope it works right!
For example, I of course, am voting "I have one!" my comments are:

I've got a 7.1.4 system in my HT, it has changed the way I enjoy Blu-ray movies & HD CableTV audio. I'm so happy I decided to move forward with it and I find it's well worth it too.

I'm happy I went with .4 as it give me a huge upper layer soundstage which is really nice. In the upcoming months, I plan to upgrade my bedroom to 5.1.2

no one can see your vote, so, don't worry about that! feel free to add any types of comments that you want about your system. if you don't want (or like) ATMOS/DTS:X technology/systems, vote that way and leave comments as to why; everybody has a voice here.

my only real rule is that I want peoples comments to be civil when dealing with each other. this isn't a right or wrong thread, it's to state what you have (or don't have) and why. feel free to throw up a picture of your ATMOS/DTS:X system (if you have one of course) and perhaps the gear that powers it.

thanks to everyone who votes and I hope the technology is a positive trend that I hope continues to enhance all of our HT experiences.

Well since I am installing (or attempting) a Atoms setup this weekend I will hold off voting but I haven't been this excited since I built my first HT back in 2009 with a 720p projector and a Onkyo HTIB setup. Looking forward to a whole new experience but not looking forward to the credit cards bills to follow!

I've been a Yamaha buyer for years, but from what I understand their new receivers only output Atmos / DTS-X as 5.1.2 / 5.1.4 - what's a compariable receiver that can do 7.1.2 / 7.1.4 ??

I think it working 5.1.4. I'm not sure 5.1.2 is problem as 7.1 audio option speakers heigh 2 folded.

I never experienced on 5.1.2. It's perfect 5.1.4 or 7.1.4 with DTS-X.

I sure. Ask your buddy solarrdad!

Or

More information about 5.1.2 switch 7.1 non-Atmos. Very interestly...

Voted that I have one. Best money I ever put into my HT. Just finished watching Crimson Peak and it just adds to the creepiness hearing all those sounds coming from above. Love my setup and couldn't go back to basic 7.1

How does the 5.1.2 sound? Are the 2 overhead speakers pushing good enough for you to notice easily? Im starting with a 5.1.2 then eventually I will go to a larger system.

I don't understand your question. If I convert to DTS X, then it would be a 7.2.2.

If you opt for front heights you have to make sure that you have them angled pointing down directly at your MLP, if you undershoot you will get subpar Atmos performance.

I am installing overhead ceiling speakers directly over the MLP, is that better that the bookshelf type speakers at ceiling corners pointing down at the center of the MLP (Like the diagram above)? Thanks, last question as I know this is a voting thread.

Overhead speakers are always first choice for Atmos. Wish I could install on my ceiling!

I've kinda got Atmos with a Denon X2200 amp, running 5.1.2 with front heights. Obviously I don't get the proper overhead experience but the fidelity of the Atmos mixes themselves are truly amazing, and I still get some discrete effects via the height channels (which are surround backs repurposed from my former 7.1 setup) which do add a little sumthin' extra.

Heck of it is, I get a better 'bubble' of sound coming from 5.1.2 than I get from 7.1.

my opinion is that if your installing a .2 that it would benefit you the most with a direct, over the MLP. with a .4 the front pair should be to the front of the MLP and the rear pair should be to the rear of the MLP. my opinion mind you. that's how I have my .4 setup

when I do my 5.1.2 in the bedroom (in the near future) it will have the top centers (middle) in the middle of the distance between the front LCR & the surrounds.

the same is true with my HT 7.1.4 my top fronts are centered between the LCR & side surrounds and the top rears are centered between my side & rear surrounds. it give me a nice equal spread of distance between all 11 speakers from front to back.
