Well, I'm not going to be able to enjoy the finale with the rest of you guys, but I just finished the first season for the first time tonight! (Purchased the BDs for the first four season last BF, and finally got around to watching.)

Overall, I'm really loving the show so far! Personally, I thought it started off pretty decently right out of the gate. It definitely had some flaws associated with CBS procedurals (like how they seem to have to spell everything out for you via dialogue when it's already evident through what is shown on screen), but the premise itself was enough to make it more interesting than your run-of-the-mill procedural. It definitely started to pick up around where Elias appeared and Carter was designated as the POI (around eps 7-8) and just kept improving from there. And the last few episodes were just great!

I'm surprised how many threads they left dangling at the end though.... HR doesn't seem out of commission yet, plus the whole Elias thing and the CIA plotline with Reese's partner (which obviously ties into the whole Machine thing). Excited to see what's next.

Season 5 will probably be out on BD by the time I finish Season 4, so that's just perfect.

I just can't wrap my head around that this is the final episode.. I'm just not ready for it to end

I can only hope, against all hope, that Nolan, Abrams et al can continue this with some movies. That is if they don't wrap it up too tightly to prevent sequels.

This is why I don't get into watching TV now until they have been on the air for a few years, and even then I will go and get each Season on Blu-ray.

You get invested in a show, and then the Network pulls it right out from under you.

I have the first 4 Seasons of POI, and I will watch them at my leisure, when I want to, and I will pick up the Final Season on Blu-ray when it comes out next month.

Loved the finale. Zero complaints. The ending for each character made perfect sense for their development over the run of the show and was executed very well.

I actually got a little choked up with the Harold and John scenes.

Great send off for a fantastic show. I will miss it very much. I haven't sat down to make my actual Top 5 of shows like films, but off the top of my head now that this one is done, I'd have to say it is probably 3rd to only Lost and Chuck.

I found the finale to be a bit disappointing, there was closure for the most part and it was done a lot better then Lost for sure. I guess they did the best they could of done for being rushed and crammed into so few episodes.

"Everyone dies alone".....except the guy who starts the AI apocalypse and abandons all his friends.

I loved the Shaw scenes. The music was especially great, too. It's a good overall finale, but in the end the show's poor treatment of minorities has somewhat ruined my relationship with it.

Personally, I loved the finale. Obviously, I wished they had more episodes this season so they could flesh out the season but given their 13 episode count and given how CBS wanted a procedural element to these final 13 episodes instead of having a full blown final 13 episode serialized storyline, I think they did a pretty exceptional job with what they were given.

Things I would have loved to see if they had more time and episodes would be to see more Elias as a member of the team. Also, would have like to know if Control is really dead or just locked away somewhere. Definitely would have liked to see some old favorites come back, like Zoey and Leon. Zoey usually had at least 1 episode per season but I guess they didn't have the time with their shortened episode count.
[Show spoiler]And most of all, would have loved if Root and Shaw had a bit more screen time together since their reunion was cut short by Root's death.

Still pissed at CBS for not allowing this show to grow even more, the producers insisted they had much more stories to tell but they gave POI 13 episodes in hopes that Limitless would flourish but look, Limitless was cancelled as well. But I understand why they did what they did since CBS doesn't own POI and they don't make as much as other shows owned by CBS but considering its built in fanbase and cult audience, I figured CBS would know they had a diamond in a rough. But it is what it is. And POI still managed to be an exceptional show.

I read some follow up interviews, and there's a glimmer of hope that POI might be able to live on in some capacity, be it a follow up or a spin off.
[Show spoiler] Considering how Finch, Fusco, and Shaw are still alive, as well as the Machine, I personally hope the show will live on in some capacity. I would love to see Shaw pick up John's mantle. I know Sarah Shahi is trying to shop her Nancy Drew pilot series to other networks but I think a follow up or spin off designated around her character of Shaw would be so much better for her than a Nancy Drew series, IMHO, since the Drew series sounds too much like Elementary. At least with Shaw, there's action and suspense and a thriller like quality to it, compared to your regular case of the week procedural even though POI does have a procedural element to it. Hopefully, somewhere down the line (not too long though), something comes to fruition, whether it is with Shaw and the rest of the gang or maybe a new set of team members like the ones introduced in episode 11 of this season. One can hope. For now, goodbye Irrelevants. Hope to see you again someday soon.

OT but Shahi did mention being relieved the show wasn't picked up because it wasn't good.

Great Series Finale!

Considering how Root and Reese first met that was a great final scene between them.

I had a feeling about Finch's ending.

I guessed wrong on the dog but thinking about it again Bear ended up with the right person.

While I will miss this show a lot, ending it after five seasons makes it seem as if we've just seen an incredibly long but great mini-series.

Prior to watching the finale, I watched "The Fix" with Zoe Morgan on WGN reruns. She really was the right one for Reese.

In the end Team Machine truly became a close family with a dog.

I liked the series finale and the ending was sad with Reese dying. But I knew either he or Finch would probably die. Saw an interview where they said they could come back to the story with Shaw and Machine, but they ended it with the intention of it being the end.

I'd hate for it to come back.

Sometimes you should just let sleeping dogs lie.

I knew it wouldn't be Finch because of Grace. They mentioned her quite a bit in these last 13 episodes.

Episode 5x01 - "Root's talking to us after everything's gone to hell!"
Episode 5x10 - "The Machine is talking to us after everything's gone to hell!"
Episode 5x13 - "The Machine is talking to the rebooted Machine!"

Thanks, Person of Interest, for five wonderful seasons. And screw you to CBS, killing Person of Interest and Limitless while Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders lives.

Loved the finale. Looking forward to picking up season 5 on Blu to complete the set. Loved that Machine lives with Roots Voice.
[Show spoiler]Shaw still having a relationship with the machine as Root and basically becoming the new Reese in helping irrelevants together with Fusco. Finch getting to have a normal life with Grace. Reese was always living on borrowed time. I especially knew that in the episode where the machine showed what would happen to team machine if the machine had not existed.

Fitting end to the series, really like how Reese and Root story line played out..has for Harold his ending was predictable. Loved the ending with Shaw.

Bear McCreary music was fantastic throughout the episode.

I'm gutted about
[Show spoiler]Reese, but I predicted he would go out sacrificing himself with a "thank you Finch, you gave me a purpose" speech.

A good ending overall, but I'm sad to see it end, it was one of my favourite shows.

I tried hard to avoid spoilers until the Blu-Ray came out, since I didn't see any of the final 13 episodes live. But after learning the details of the finale, my expression was a mixture of surprise, sadness, melancholy...and a tiny bit of joy.
[Show spoiler]I'm disappointed we never learn Reese's real name, and also that Root died. But finally having Finch reunite with Grace was amazing; he deserved happiness after going through so much. I was really hoping Reese could as well with his shrink, but the writers felt differently.
