As you all know Sony released their new line of XBR televisions. (XBR6, 7 and 8)
I am a new and proud owner of Sony's 46 inch XBR6 LCD TV. It really is night and day for gaming and watching movies (especially blu-ray) I couldn't be happier with the quality and aesthetic design. Owners and fans of this television rejoice and let us know how you feel about this LCD. Let's hear some reviews, opinions, pictures, and everything else XBR6. ![]() Hear is the Cnet Editors review for the 52 inch XBR6 (They said 40,46,52 inch were technically the same but the chose to review the largest size) 4 out of 5 stars, woohoo!! http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-panel-t...?tag=mncol;lst |

By series from Best to Worst: XBR, Z, W, V, M, N, S. I think you getting the xbr6 over the v4100 (which is still a great tv) would be a smart move. The xbr6 has better black levels, broader color range and a better overall bravia engine. ascetically not much difference except for the removable speaker bezel and floating glass design towards the bottom. I think any Sony is a good way to go but I feel that they use more unique algorithms in the bravia engines of the xbr's over the v seriers. let me know if you have any questions about the set. |

Thanks, i totally agree with you. My mistake was thinking for "true" 24p I didn't need 120Hz- wrong, also thinking if the XBR6 and V, W, Z, all had Bravia Engine 2 and 1080p, then there couldn't be a lot of difference between them. And that was wrong too. If I didnt get the XBR6, it would be Z, but I think I will just get what I really want.

Just ordered my 52xbr6 over the weekend. Kind of surprised more people here haven't posted about the TV. I was planning on getting the 52xbr4 last year but things just never worked out.
Anyone here with this tv have any problems with clouding or sparkles that have been talked about with some units, and if so has the firmware update helped. In reading on another forum about the tv, about 39 pages to be exact, someone would mention how great their xbr was, and someone would come along and say they look terrible compared to samsung models or even xbr4 or 5. I am not trying to spark a debate, samsung vs sony, or lcd vs plasma. Just wondering what those of you that have this television think of it. Cheers. |

I'm at a crossroads, so to say...
Wait for the 52" xbr7, with the 240Hz... Or opt for the 52" xbr6, with the 120Hz, and much lower price. Any thoughts? |

Yeah, see what you are saying, for me I think it was the right choice, XBR7 will be out of my price range, the only reason I got the XBR6 was the price they gave me and how much I have loved the XBR line. Don't know if you will be able to tell much difference with the 240Hz, when compared to the 120Hz, but we should soon see.

Hey, answer me a couple of things about these sets. Does Motion Enhancer function with Cinemotion turned off or vice versa? Do the settings affect each other? Finally, does Cinemotion do anything to 24p sources (Blu-ray) or does it only perform inverse telecine and interpolation (depending on mode) on 30 or 60 fps sources that are film based? I can't get clear answers to this anywhere. I have been leaving Motion Enhancer turned off for movies and on standard or smooth for television sports, but I honestly can't say that Cinemotion effects either. I have not tested it with DVD sources.

The 240Hz is a great feature, plus it's the only TV on the market to have it so far. But...Everyone I've talked to within the industry has told me that although the 52'' xbr7 will have that feature, it will compromise some of the picture and use a less efficient engine than the 40'' and 70'' xbr7's. I have even been told that the xbr6 (40''-52'') looks better. I have heard though that it will be great for watching sports, very smooth and responsive. Basically what Sony has done is put an extra frame into the picture, making it smooth as hell. I'm happy I went with the xbr6 for gaming and blu-ray content. If I was a sports nut I would consider the 52'' xbr7 (Imagine the camera panning down the field in a soccer of football game being extremely smooth) otherwise no big selling points. You couldnt just sell me on the 240Hz...

Sparkle issue is gone with the FW update (to my knowledge). I followed the same thread a while back as I am considering a "Z" series for the bedroom. |

I was just about to mention this sale. Also, for those looking at the 46" XBR6, it'll be $1999.99 at Best Buy next week, too.

I myself am drooling over the 32xbr6, or if the deal is just right the 37xbr6 They are some really nice TV , as it is for my room, I don't need anything huge. I have gotten a lot of hands on time with the interface and its various settings. With XBR I know there is quality for my money!

the 32 and 37 XBR6 are practically a V4100. you would have to get a 40'' or larger XBR6 to get a true XBR.

I totally agree with you vektar I have a 52 XBR4 and I don't like the newer models they mostly look the same I think that the floating glass gives it a more stylist look I love the T.V.
