Default Dirty Harry Collection Blu-Ray vs DVD

Is it worth purchasing this blu-ray collection of Dirty Harry https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dirty-Harry-Collection-Blu-ray-Region/dp/B002MZ1UQE/ref=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1464653624&sr=1-1&keywords=dirty+harry+collection+blu-ray?

Might sound like a silly question but I have come across blu-ray editions of films that are worse than the DVD (like Straw Dogs 40th Ann. Edition). In that case, I've seen the DVD recommended over the blu-ray.

The reviews I have read say the Dirty Harry films look their best ever on blu-ray, yet they also mention edge-enhancement being present. Is the edge enhancement a new addition or is it something that is also on the DVD edition? Is it a deal-breaker?

Which to get; DVD or Blu-ray collection?

Thanks!

The boxset fluctuates- Amazon prices go up and down in crazy ways.

Currently showing as £15 - but was £13.50 at midnight

They are not perfect but looks very good. Quality improves with each movie. I can't imagine getting any better release anytime soon.

I never purchased the DVD set so I am unable to compare but do hold the Bluray set and would say this is one set to easily show a newcomer to the medium as to what HD really means. The PQ and AQ are in fact spot on, such that at times I was thinking I am seeing a movie released awhile back instead of decades old.

I would recommend the Blu ray set.

Thank you all for the quick replies!

Upon your collective advice, I purchased the set yesterday. I can't wait to get started!

In 2022 I see the price keep going down. So, I think 2023 will be DIRTY HARRY 4k set.

I hope to every mythological being as well. The changes to the iconic bank shootout alone are awful enough on the 5.1 track.
