Hello I am looking for a movie club type thing where we can hang out and watch movies with like minded people, I am looking for people who watch films that are non mainstream, like classics, or indie films or different or foreign films, I have not been able to find a club anywhere, does anybody here know of a club or would like to start one up?

At my TAFE someone ran a weekly thing just like that for about half a year, inviting anyone and everyone, but after the first 5 screenings, attendance was abysmal, so there was no point running it. Made me really sad too because I thought it was a great way to share and explore great films that maybe don't have the attention they should.
Wouldn't mind joining one if one was started up, but I don't know if I would want to start one myself as I never know my schedule these days (or where I'd host it). |

There's a couple of clubs on meetup.com but it seemed as though their choice of cinematic fodder might be a bit routine for my liking.
The type of movie I enjoy seeing with an audience is the type that invites audience participation. When I have friends over for movies, I'll whip out the fun, crazy stuff. Laughter and witticisms are encouraged. If, however, I want to take in a classic or more sombre flick, I'm usually happy to do so by my lonesome or with just one or two (sober) viewing buddies. Anyway, that's my 2 cents. If you end up starting something, lettuce know! |
