Default Blu Ray Player Roadmap

This thread is to discuss the future roadmap of Blu Ray Players. I want to get a better feel for what companies will be developing in the next year or more. I have read that load times can be slow on these players, surely there will be chipsets to improve those. Secondly, the amount of on board memory players will have. Is there an intent to increase storage past the 1G required for Profile 2.0? I am interested in this feature as pending releases such as Neil Young's Archives Vol1 will make use of internet deliveries to enhance the content. I am also interested in green technology and am interested to know how power consumption and noise will reduce.

Does anyone have any insight into what's next?????

Killer apps?
Hardware enhancements?
Desired features?

Thought we needed a thread for this.

Thanks,

OZ

We are starting to see it on the higher end Pioneer players but I think the next big change will be in features to improve picture quality. Most of the players so far have just delivered straight 1080p/24. I think we might see special video processing being heavily focused on.

Engadget got that story wrong. The Neil Young Archives will still be released on Blu-ray, in fact a demo of it was shown at a recent conference in the past week. It has been delayed to the first half of 2009 though...

I'm curious why none of the manufacturers of stand alone players use ethernet over wireless connections. It seems like a lot of people would have more access to BD-Live features if the player could access them wirelessly.
