Default The Best of Kurt Russell

From working as a Disney teen star to being John Carpenter's go-to leading man to one of the modern era's best big screen cowboys, Kurt Russell has stretched from comedy to romance to action, westerns and dark dramas alike, proving he is more than just a grizzled chinned everyman hero. Here is a list of a baker's dozen of his best works. But which is #1?
  • Sheriff Hunt in Bone Tomahawk (2015)
  • Herb Brooks in Miracle (2008)
  • Stuntman Mike in Death Proof (2007)
  • Eldon Perry in Dark Blue (2002)
  • Col. Jack O'Neil in Stargate (1994)
  • Wyatt Earp in Tombstone (1993)
  • McCaffrey in Backdraft (1991)
  • Jack Burton in Big Trouble in Little China (1986)
  • Drew Stephens in Silkwood (1983)
  • MacReady in The Thing (1982)
  • Snake Plissken in Escape from New York (1981)
  • Elvis Presley in Elvis (1979)
  • Dexter Riley in The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes (1969)

Definitely Snake Plissken for me.

Followed by Captain Ron.

I love that the eye patch was Kurt's touch, based on his idea that Ron had probably watched Escape From New York one too many times.

Snake Plissken and Jack Burton...

Captain Ron would be my third choice... no Ray Tango from Tango & Cash on list?

His comedic performances in Captain Ron, Overboard did not make the cut, though could have easily.
Out of his recent sheriff type roles, I went with Bone Tomahawk over Hateful Eight.
And sorry, Tango & Cash just wasn't gonna be an option.

How the hell did you not put "The Hateful Eight" in the poll???? It's a recent movie and his most popular in years.

I voted for Russell's work in The Thing.

I hope that Breakdown (1997) gets a Blu-ray release soon. That's such an underrated flick.

Noticed this thread and thought this would be the best place to post it.... There's going to be a comic book six-part series coming out where Jack Burton gets sent forward in time and meets Snake Plissken. The first issue comes out October.

That sounds awesome! Any idea who is publishing and doing the story/artwork?

Jack Burton was the best because he headlined such an imperfect hero, but the real interesting cast fell to Lo Pan, Egg Shen, and Wang Chi themselves. This is one of the few movies where I appreciate having a white character inserted into a foreign, fantasy element and he isn't the most interesting person there.
