Amazon.com are releasing an exclusive collection at the end of Feb called Harry Potter Hogwarts Collection. Basically its all the Ultimate Edition discs PLUS the exclusive bonus disc. I can't see WB releasing the UE in amaray cases.

I've enquired with WB UK and they say it won't be released here (but then again WB are always quite stum). I've also contacted Amazon and they are more helpful and looking into it.

This annoys me.
Literally just managed to complete my collection of the UK Ultimate Editions, and now I find out there there's a big boxset coming out, with the bonus disc from the Wizards Collection?

F*cking hell!
I wish I could just get the bonus disc at this point.

Well, I own the Wizard's Collection, but the extra books and character cards that come with the Ultimate Editions seem cool to own. Plus the boxes are nice to store the WC discs in, so I won't have to constantly open the WC to get to the discs.

What's the best deal right now on the UE? Zavvi has some of them for 13.95. Do they protect their items well enough for shipping, if anyone knows?

Just a quick question for the UK editions. Do all of the ultimate editions come with UV copies and if they do, what is the expiry date for films 1-6? I'd be annoyed buying them to find out I can no longer use the UV code.

Older copies of 1-6 were digital for Windows - awkward if you have a mac :/

More recent copied now have Ultra-violet inside like DH 1&2. To allow for shelf time I think the date is 2015. If any problems with digital then WB Consumer Products have always helped me out.

I take it now that they're re-releasing the Potter films with new artwork that the Ultimate Editions have gone the way of the dodo? A shame, as I never did manage to pick up either Deathly Hallows release.

I remember on the original first-print 2-disc DVD to the Half-Blood Prince released down in here in Australia that there was a promo for the Ultimate Editions. On the promo, I think it said that there would be an extended cut to every film. What happened to that? Also, what happened to this line of editions?

I have all but the last two Ultimate Editions. IIRC I have a couple from France (they were selling them off for peanuts and despite some text on the box art they are very English friendly).

The last film I opted for the 3D BDs instead. Now looking at prices I wish I'd gone for the UEs.

I am not sure if it was the biggest issue but our Slovak/Czech distributor for WB titles told me that Warner was disappointed with sales of first 2 Ultimate editions and their extended cuts so they decided to drop them out for other installements. It is also true that Cuaron and Newell were asked to create extended cuts but they declined since they were satisfied with theatrical versions. Meanwhile Yates was busy with filming Deathly Hallows so there was no time for him to create his own extended cuts... But to be honest, I think it is just a matter of time when WB will release them - HP is such a huge franchise that I don't think they wouldn't like to milk more money with extended cuts...

So I've only just found out that these Extended Editions are a thing, only to find they basically don't exist anywhere? That UK didn't even get them on blu-ray, just DVD?

So how exactly can I legally own them? Does the US or Australian release contain the Extended version in Blu-Ray format? If so, considering they're region free, why were they not simply released here too? All seems to make no sense.

The Extended Editions only exist for the first two movies.

You can get them on Blu-ray discs in the Wizard's, or Hogwart's Collections, or on DVDs with the (UK) Philosopher's Stone and Chamber of Secrets Ultimate Editions.

I'm curious if the new Blu-ray boxset released on July 25th will include the extended editions or not, it does have the 8-part documentary included anyway.

It'd be great if it has the updated movie BDs (inc. extended cuts) with the 8-part bonus documentary BDs. Might be worth buying for the UV code alone, flog that for £20+ and that's half the set paid for already. Not gonna get it now though, I'll wait for feedback about what's actually on there and if it's sound then I'll make a move when it hits £30.

I have a feeling it might have the new movie discs as it seems to be a cut down version of the Hogwarts Collection. Regarding selling the codes, that's what I was thinking, then if sell my standard set too, it should pretty much cover the cost. I'm a bit fuzzy on all the extras though, will I lose a bunch of stuff from the 3 bonus discs in the standard set or will the new 8 discs cover it?

I've got it locked in at £33.25 at Amazon UK, so might just go for it. Part of me can't really be arsed though, I'm perfectly happy with the set I have but the extended cuts would be nice to have.

EDIT: Oh wow, CEX buy the old set for £18 currently, so I'd probably make money upgrading after flogging the codes!
