Default 99 Women (Jess Franco)

Quote:
U.S. labels Blue Underground has confirmed that it is preparing a Deluxe Limited Edition of cult Spanish director Jesús Franco's film 99 Women (1969), starring Maria Schell, Herbert Lom, Mercedes McCambridge, Luciana Paluzzi, and Maria Rohm. The release is expected to arrive on the market later this year.

The upcoming Blu-ray release will also include the explicit French Version of the film, which has been newly remastered.

Synopsis: For his epic shocker of caged women gone wild, legendary director Jesús Franco (Eugenie, Sadomania) brought together a once-in-a-lifetime cast of International beauties including Maria Schell (The Odessa File), Luciana Paluzzi (Thunderball), Rosalba Neri (Lady Frankenstein) and Maria Rohm (Venus In Furs). Oscar winner Mercedes McCambridge (Johnny Guitar) and Herbert Lom (The Dead Zone, Mark Of The Devil) co-star as the sadistic wardens of an island prison where abused yet luscious young lovelies surrender to their own depraved desires. Behind bars...without men...experience the unchained passion of 99 Women!

The LE. Includes 2 blu-ray discs, containing 2 versions of the film, and the CD. The other edition has 1 blu-ray, 1 dvd of 1 version of the film, and the CD.

Get this one:

But doesn't the LE that I posted include both versions? The one you posted has 1 blu-ray, 1 dvd, 1 CD.

The LE includes 2 blu-ray, 1 CD.

The LE:

Long censored around the world, Blue Underground is proud to present the Unrated Director’s Cut of 99 WOMEN in a brand new 4K restoration, along with startling Extras including an eye-popping interview with Jess Franco himself! This Limited Edition also includes a new 4K scan of the notorious French Version (LES BRULANTES) on a bonus Blu-ray Disc!

You're correct. I guess it depends on whether or not having the extra cut is worth the extra money to you.

Yeah, it seems to be luck of the draw on whether it happens with these 4K masters from BU or not. Has me hesitant to preorder.

Been doing some research on these two versions and it turns out the French X version is the same as the other with the only difference being 8 additional minutes of inserted hardcore shots. From the reviews I've read of the 2005 Blue Underground X-rated DVD the scenes are pretty ridiculous looking as the shots jump back and forth from Franco's shots to the non-Franco hardcore inserts and the quality is noticeably different as well as the stand-in actors looking noticeably different from Franco's actors.

I don't know what's going on at Amazon, but both editions are no longer available there. I preordered the limited edition before it disappeared, but the price at that time was MSRP. I was hoping for the price to come down before the release date, but I guess I won't be lucky now.

Hope my order is honored, though. I could order it at Diabolik, but the shipping cost is too high for the multi-disc Blu-ray to overseas.

Well, as much as I'd like to, I'm not preordering until I see some screen shots or a review. Hopefully BU knocks it out of the park, but not taking the chance on a DNR fest unseen.

Afraid after EUGENIE, I am going to wait for reviews instead of pre ordering as well.
Fingers crossed.

Still seems to be gone, I've been checking on it every now and then and still nothing. It's still in my orders though?

The first review is up.
http://10kbullets.com/reviews/7/99-w...-dvd-cd-combo/

According to the reviewer:
"The source used for this transfer is in great shape and there are no issues with compression and DNR is kept in check."

The screenshots tell an entirely different story. What is up with Blue Underground lately and this overuse of noise reduction? Well at least it's a new 4K scan!

For some reason, seemingly every master that originates in Italy has major issues with DNR and/or scanner noise. It's been that way for years now.

Edit: Yowza, those screenshots are truly awful, even by the usual Italian standards!
