Default Journey To The Center Of The Earth True HD 5.1?

This is from the hi def review of it.

New Line presents 'Journey to the Center of the Earth' in English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround. As expected, this is a slam-bang presentation that's just as over-the-top with effects and action as the feature film.

Well...I think that's going to make a couple more people interested. When did they change it from Digital 5.1 to TrueHD?

This is excellent news. Hopefully we'll never have to see another plain old DD 5.1 soundtrack on Warner/New Line releases.

I watched this the other night as I got it through early and I have seen previous attempts at 3D movies for home use but never quite delivered in terms of the 3D experience, so my expectations for this title weren't very high... However I have to say WOW this was amazing to watch.. the 3D element works great and I am glad I bought this title.
I'm not sure how it will work on normal tv as I had it rigged up through my 1080p projector and was watching on huge screen but I think it will be good on TV.
The mail today has just arrived so I am now going to watch Polar Express 3D which arrived

But my opinion of Journey The The Centre Of The Earth is to get it.. its a limited run of the 3D version and after that it will be 2D only... don't miss out!!!

Does this blu-ray movie come with 3-D glasses or do I need to purchase them separately?

Unfortunately I can confirm that this disc is not TrueHD. It's Dolby Digital 5.1 (640kbps) in both the 2D and 3D versions.

The disc comes with 4 pairs of 3D glasses

I will get this anyway. My 3 year old loves Dinosaurs. And since no Jurassic Park and I am soooooooooooooo sick of Ice Age. Thank god he is getting into Batman, Iron Man, and the Hulk.

He wants to be Heath Ledger as the Joker for Halloween. How sweet is that.

I think Elizabeth is right. There are already been other reviews and I am sure the reviewer at HDD has received plenty of emails telling him to correct the audio mistake in his review. Peter Bracke is usually pretty good, but this is a major mistake. I think he may have been a little drunk while writing the audio portion of his review.

It doesn't matter to me that it doesn't have DD TrueHD, I'm still going to buy this movie (hopefully in 3D).

Just FYI, dinosaurs take up exactly 5 minutes of this movie or less- at the very beginning and the very end. If that's your only reason in purchasing it you may want to pass. Personally, I thought the movie was pretty bad, and I had low expectations going in. My wife and 4 year old enjoyed it ok though.

So dang it, its it Lossy or Lossless?

If it's lossy, then I am sure it's good because it must have fooled Peter, and he's always done great reviews....he has been spot on on almost every AV review he did, maybe we dont have the same taste, but he sure as heck knows how to review the AV aspect of each movie.

I hope to GOD that the disc is Lossless, and maybe the back cover is misprinted to say DD, instead of DTHD. Has anyone purchase this movie yet and verified all the available audio tracks on it?

Repeating what I said earlier.... I have this disc in my possession, and it has only lossy DD5.1 audio.
I have played the disc, and the information on the packaging is correct. Each version of the film has English DD5.1, Spanish DD5.1, and commentary DD2.0

Thanks

Liz

Peter Bracke... spot on "almost every AV review"?!? Are you serious? Dude's got an obvious bias towards a certain format that failed, and it seems to irritate him to this day.

I am sorry that I have to HIGHLY disagree with you, I trust the reviews on this site (bluray.com) but I also trust the reviews on HDD as well, especially Peter's and I never thought he was overly critical of bluray releases, as a matter of fact he gave TRANSFORMERS on bluray a review that was almost too good for the transfer, I would have personally given it 3 out of 5 stars (those dark night scenes looked aweful with too much grain) while he thought the whole thing looked great and gave it 4.5/5 stars. I dont think he is biased, and if he was at the time of the dreadful format war days, I am sure he has gotten over it just like the rest of the 99% of previous HDDVD supporters. To this day, almost 9 out of 10 movies he reviewed and I had purchased were spot on when it came to his AV critique. Again we may have different taste in movie content but he has generally given good advice on his movie recommendations.

Well for good for you. You will just be one of the many who supports Warner when they are cheating the HD consumer with not the full HD quality for video and audio on Blu-ray. Yes, I will rent it for my daughter, but I will not put my money towards Warner on there half ass products.

I am with you DAMNSAM77, but not one other person is reporting this disc to have DTHD. Every other review or early impressions tell you that it only has the DD 5.1. Peter is usually pretty good, but I think he may have been drunk while writing the audio on this one. Maybe he has a surprise disc we have not heard of yet
