I was browsing through the Site Preferences options, and realized there's an option to display your collection by title chronologically (Great for use within a franchise, with varying titles). This is a feature I am excited to use. However, I'm not sure how to edit franchises like The Da Vinci Code, Angles & Demons, and the upcoming: Inferno, together. Franchises that don't share similar titles, are something I'd love to appear beside each other, within my collection view. Is there a specific way I can go about editing these titles so that they can be tethered together with this feature? Maybe there should be a space to add which movie I.D. number a title appears before or after?
If I can't personally edit these, to properly utilize the organization feature.. This is a list of titles, and the order that they need to be paired in, within their franchises (Titles that appear in my collection): Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises Casino Royale (2006), Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre The Da Vinci Code, Angles & Demons The Evil Dead (1981), Evil Dead 2, Army of Darkness Night of the Living Dead (1968), Dawn of the Dead (1978), Day of the Dead (1985), Land of the Dead Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes Rocky: Heavyweight Collection, Creed Snow White & the Huntsman, The Huntsman: Winter's War Last edited by THS; 08-03-2016 at 06:26 PM. |

I've also noticed quite a few franchises, that are displayed next to each other, and have similar titles, but are still out of order.
Some examples (From franchise titles I own): Escape From L.A. appears before Escape From New York (Scream! Factory release). Final Destination 5 appears before the Final Destination: 1-4 Collection (4-Film Favorites). Ice Age: Continental Drift 3D and Ice Age: The Meltdown appear before Ice Age and Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol appears before the first 3 films. Monsters University properly appears before Monsters, Inc, but Monsters vs Aliens (An unrelated film) appears between them. Only the 1st, and most recent Muppets films appear in proper order, the rest are out of order, between them. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End appears ahead of the rest of the franchise. Resident Evil: Afterlife appears ahead of the rest of the franchise. The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water appears before The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens appears ahead of the Complete Saga boxed set. Tales From the Crypt Presents: Bordello of Blood appears before Tales From the Crypt Presents: Demon Knight. The X-Men franchise is completely out of order, following the first movie. Now that you have started this thread. Keep posting here whenever you find an issue. I have been trying to get this done but some I have forgotten about like the Escape movies and Da Vinci Codes. The Bonds are probably going to be sorted as Bond 1-24 when this works for them. Does this seem like good plan to you? Putting all Bond movied under Bond in chronological order by release date? I have been asking admins for final approval on this but they have been busy. Have you sorted by title chronological yet? I think the Pirates and Batman movies should work. Ice Ages also. But I could be mistaken. If you find anymore problems post here or PM me and I'll be glad to fix it. ![]() |

In regards to Bond.. I'm sure everyone has their own opinion, but either 007 or just Bond seems like the best choice. I agree that sorting by production year under chronological is the best choice, with how many individual and boxed set releases there are. |

Is the Final Destination sorting right now? I'll try to do some more tomorrow. Probably will be Bond 1-25 Im hoping this is changed to something that can be done on the theatrical page then be inherited by all releases. If it were like that I'd have them all done ![]() Last edited by TheDean; 08-04-2016 at 09:23 AM. |

Using the theatrical listing would be very beneficial, with so many re-releases, and now 4K. I imagine it's quite exhausting to keep up after each Blu-ray is released, from new boxed sets, to new editions, etc. for ongoing franchises.
Here's an Update for ya: Batman (1989), Batman Returns, Batman Forever, Batman & Robin The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader Final Destination: 1-4 Collection (4-Film Favorites), Final Destination 5 Ice Age, Ice Age: The Meltdown, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Ice Age: Continental Drift Madagascar, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted, Penguins of Madagascar Mad Max, The Road Warrior (Mad Max 2), Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome, Mad Max Trilogy, Mad Max: Fury Road Mission: Impossible, Mission: Impossible 2, Mission: Impossible III, Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation Monsters University, Monsters, Inc (Monsters vs Aliens is still appearing between them) The Muppet Movie, The Muppets: Treasure Island & The Great Muppet Caper (2-Movie Collection), The Muppets Take Manhattan, The Muppets Christmas Carol, Muppets From Space, The Muppets (2011), Muppets Most Wanted Night of the Living Dead (1968), Dawn of the Dead (1978), Day of the Dead (1985), Land of the Dead Resident Evil, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Resident Evil: Extinction, Resident Evil: Afterlife, Resident Evil: Retribution Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes Rocky, Rocky II, Rocky III, Rocky IV, Rocky V, Rocky Balboa, Rocky: Heavyweight Collection, Creed Snow White & the Huntsman, The Huntsman: Winter's War Star Wars: Prequel Trilogy, Star Wars: Original Trilogy, Star Wars: The Complete Saga, Star Wars: The Force Awakens Tales From the Crypt Presents: Demon Knight, Tales From the Crypt Presents: Bordello of Blood X-Men Origins: Wolverine, X-Men, X2: X-Men United, X-Men: The Last Stand, The Wolverine, X-Men: First Class, X-Men: Days of Future Past (Also, DOFP: The Rogue Cut), X-Men: Apocalypse Last edited by THS; 08-05-2016 at 12:57 AM. |

I also have a few other organization recommendations, but I'm not sure what you'll think.
First, a quick one. In regards to remakes, can we have them organized by production year, so that they appear following the original? I've noticed this is the case for some, but not all (Leading me to assume that some just might've been overlooked).. So, if you'd like a list of what I've found to be out of order, I'd be glad to supply the titles I know of. Secondly, In regards to how common Cinematic Universes are becoming, how can we handle these titles better, so that they reflect the chronology organizer? Examples: MARVEL Cinematic Universe (MCU): Should these be ordered as the franchise unfolds (This happens to be my preference, as the franchise has no signs of stopping)? As In: Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, Marvel's The Avengers, Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War, The Upcoming: Doctor Strange, Next year's: Spider-Man: Homecoming and Thor: Ragnarök, and so on.. They are currently alphabetical, with the exception of franchises within the universe. Like the Iron Man Trilogy appearing together under "I", The Captain America Trilogy appearing together under "C", etc. The above could also, rightly, be applied to the DC Extended Universe (DCEU): Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, Next Year's: Wonder Woman and Justice League, and so on.. Most importantly, if we can get them organized together, and in release order.. should they appear alphabetically under say: The "M's" for "MARVEL" and under the "D's" for "DC", respectively; just as you mentioned placing all of the James Bond - 007 films in order, under "Bond", in the "B's"? It seemed similar, and relevant. Lastly, should prequels be organized differently within the filter? As in: Prometheus, Next Year's: Alien: Covenant, Alien, Aliens, Alien³, Alien: Resurrection, and/or the Alien Anthology I'd personally love for these titles, and titles jumbled up in similar franchises. to appear together, and in their correct order; but I'm not sure how they should be organized. My recommendation would be: For the above mentioned example, Prometheus should appear before the individual Alien movies/ or the Alien Anthology set, but the titles in general remain alphabetized under "A", especially with Alien: Covenant arriving next year? If this isn't changed, Alien: Covenant will appear with the rest of the Alien films, but away from Prometheus; and therefore, out of chronology. Last edited by THS; 08-05-2016 at 01:02 AM. |

Good thoughts, thats how I think many things should go. The Vacations movies in the end should be Vacation 1-5. not National Lampoon. Animal House may also sort to A. and all National Lampoon will sort to what the movies actual title is. I think X-Men is going to be 1, 2, 3, FC, DOFP, DOFP RC, Apocalypse. Then the Wolverines Origins, The, Wolverine 3. To keep then with the X-Men, but separate. The MCU's will most likely stay separated by series. But can be gathered in a search of MCU. (Mostly with theatrical right now). Marvel also brings up other Marvel movies like X-Men and Deadpool. Should work for DC/DCEU at some point. The Alien franchise may sort like Prometheus, Alien: Covenant, Alien, Aliens, Alien³, Alien: Resurrection, and/or the Alien Anthology. But it may have the Prometheus series sort after the first Alien series, unless its decided to do them like Star Wars. But now with Star Wars, right now I don't know where Rogue One will go. Between Episode 3 and 4 or after 7? Remakes should appear after originals. So please report errors with this here. Also report collection sorting problems like the Ultimate Collections you've mentioned. All suggestions are welcome. ![]() edit: Batman and Narnia should now be good. What are thoughts on the Mexico/Mariachi Trilogy? How would you want them? As Desperado 1-3 or Mariachi 1-3 El Mariachi https://www.blu-ray.com/El-Mariachi/20877/ Mariachi 1 or Desperado 1? Desperado https://www.blu-ray.com/Desperado/17949/ Mariachi 2 or Desperado 2? Once Upon a Time in Mexico https://www.blu-ray.com/Once-Upon-a-...-Mexico/18112/ Mariachi 3 or Desperado 3? Remakes that are appearing before the original: Evil Dead (2013) is appearing before the original trilogy The Criterion release of Godzilla (1954) is appearing after the two remakes (U.S. releases), and the UK Steelbook of Godzilla (1998) is appearing after Godzilla 3D (2014) The Mad Max: Fury Road 3D UK Steelbook is appearing after Mad Max, but before the Mad Max Trilogy Planet of the Apes (2001) is appearing before the Planet of the Apes: Legacy Collection Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) appears before the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Triple Feature (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shodows will need to appear after the 2014 reboot, as well). TMNT (being a reboot/animated sequel to the original trilogy, should rightfully appear after the trilogy, but before the 2014 film and its sequel) (I'll add to the list, if I come across more) ..Also, just noticed a few franchise titles that are out of order, due to exclusives, or collection sets, dividing them up. The Ghostbusters 1 & 2 Digibook appears between the BBY Exclusive Steelbooks of 1 and 2. Can the Digibook be moved in front of the individual steelbooks, so that they are not separated? The 3-Disc Target exclusive of The Hunger Games, is appearing after all 4 Steelbooks of the franchise. Can this be moved to appear before the 1st movie's Steelbook, so that they don't get separated? I'll add these to the to do list. Not sure if i can fix Ghostbusters. Its there because its got 1 and 2 in it so its in between 1 and 2. if you have the regular version of 2 it also separates the steelbooks. So we'll just have to wait and hope for a "Sort in collection as" option. Or make a Steelbook list in your collection. Same with Hunger Games. I tried many things but its always sorting after the first Steel. |

I just tried something. That can work as an alternative. Its a lot of work but it seemed to work. I added comments to the MCU movies adding the comment Marvel MCU 1 to Iron Man Marvel MCU 2 to Incredible Hulk and Marvel MCU 3 to Iron Man 2 and so on. Then chose sort by comment and it sorts them that way. But this does require adding comments to you entire collection as you want them to be ordered. and yes that is the wrong Hulk movie. This wasn't and incredible moment for me. I was in a hurry. Also what are you thoughts on the Riddick Franchise? Would you rather sort them as Pitch Black 1-3 or Riddick 1-3? And to answer your question: I'd say Pitch Black 1-3, if you own them separately. However, I have the Riddick: The Complete Collection release, and prefer that to be in the "R's". Last edited by THS; 08-08-2016 at 08:04 PM. |
