Hey guys, just FYI, I spotted the following VEI titles in my Wally World today, for $9.96/$12.96 each. This was extremely surprising to me, personally, as I knew VEI titles were budget releases, and I had honestly suspected them of using coasters. But lo and behold, I picked up Larry Gaye: Renegade Male Flight Attendant, and it is a pressed BD-25!
But the good news doesn't end there. The back cover is adorable, rife with specification errors and omissions, including a DVD "Region 1 / NTSC" symbol, and an indication of a "4:3 aspect ratio" (!), which is obviously ported from VEI's television DVD jacket art. VEI has included both English and Spanish 5.1 and 2.0 audio tracks, and even subtitles in both languages, but all the case notes is "English, Spanish Surround 5.1". The back cover does get one thing right, though, the audio tracks are lossy Dolby Digital. It's also got the copy-protection symbol and Blu-ray Disc logo, and the run time of 99 minutes is also essentially correct, so there's that. Also, the entire back cover uses large-print text, which is a nice touch. Also, this is an Orion Pictures film, and they've kept the original opening logo (which is on the cover art) and theme music, too. How awesome is that?! Now, the other discs might be different, and I sort of just glanced at them, but I feel like this is a pretty good indicator for the other films. I think this is really neat. Yes, these are budget releases, and probably, low quality films, but for the price, it's fun to pick one up, especially in Wally World's oasis of DVDs. And kudos to VEI for pressing discs instead of using BD-Rs. Here are the titles (there is one more I can't remember, but I'm fairly certain I saw four titles): ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Here is the BDInfo scan for Larry Gaye: Renegade Male Flight Attendant, the VEI title I picked up today. The disc has no extras, but there is a menu and scene selection.
The optional English and Spanish subtitles are in a small white font. Code:

Could the other one be Balls Out? Wikipedia lists eight released titles from the current Orion that aren't with eOne or another label (Image and Gravitas Ventures, mainly) and three are shown here. The other four are Night Owls, Fort Tilden (probably too highbrow to be a Wal-Mart exclusive), Jane Wants a Boyfriend (recently given a DVD-only release), and No Stranger Than Love (but that one only came out two months ago).
I also see Orion has a movie on Bill "Spaceman" Lee coming out. I imagine eOne gets its home video rights (possibly pair it with The Phenom in repackagings). |

I doubt Wal-Mart would carry something called Balls Out in-store, though, so if there is a fourth VEI title, it's probably not that. |
