I just picked up the M55 at Costco yesterday during a $100 off sale that runs until 08/18.
Anyone else got this set and if so, what picture calibration settings are you using? I used the settings available at rtings: http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/viz...-2016/settings Last edited by RageATL; 08-16-2016 at 08:57 PM. |

Given all of the rave reviews, I was personally waiting on the P-series (P50) all along, so the M was just a stop gap for me.

Reviews for the P are great, and outright say it is better than the M. I would be getting the P if it were not for that giant silver bezel. I checked it out at Best Buy, and I found that bezel distracting. Distracting enough to change my mind.
Because of that stupid design statement I'm looking at Sony's x930d. |

The difference between the two is like night and day. The P series is far better than the M series. The P series offers much more active LED zones which means more color, contrast, and a more vibrant picture, along with the HDR which is the most popular feature on these new 4k HDTVs.

I bought a 70" M a week ago, and so far am loving the picture. Blacks are black and colors are vibrant. The only issue I have seen so far is some very minor vertical banding, only noticeable during panning shots with light backgrounds. From what I have read, this is inherent in FALD sets to some degree or another. I'm not saying the set is perfect, but no set is. I'm still not positive if I'm going to keep it, as I need to watch more content where the vertical banding is present to see if it really bothers me or not. There are some other minor annoyances, but none are deal breakers. Yes, it does HDR, but only 8-bit, so it doesn't "pop" as well as the P with the limited HDR content out there, and only one HDMI input accepts HDR. The tablet remote takes some getting used to, but I have no issue with it. Yes, it has fewer active LED zones, but that does not translate into a significant difference in picture quality according to the reviews. Read the following reviews for a comparison: http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/vizio/m-series-2016 http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/vizio/p-series-2016 |

I just picked up the 55 inch. Replaced a Samsung UN50H5203, which I suspect was one of those cheap Black Friday run models I have heard about recently.
It's a pretty amazing picture. Very pleased with the deeper blacks and how effective the dimming zones are from head on. Black pixels actually look black. As my first 4K set, I'm stunned to have found that people online haven't been blowing smoke. 1080p really does look amazing on a 4K set. Can't wait until I have real 4K content to take advantage of. |

I love my m55-d0 the P picture upgrade didn't justify the price hike imo. Very happy with my purchase, more so then any TV I've bought in the past. Took me a while to get use to the tablet for app use but after a while it totally makes sense. You can go through apps so much faster than a smart tV and a standard remote.

I actually did that last night. The 4K scenery stuff looked great, and so did some movie trailers. Not sure if I was actually watching any of that in HDR though. Does the TV default to HDR via smartcasting if it's available? |

I disagree...double the local dimming zones and a few more bells and whistles to future proof as much as you can right now more than justified the price difference for me. |
