Default PS3 random shutdowns

My ps3 is shutting down at random times. Anywhere between 5-60min its shut off and then shows a red blinking light. What do I do and how can I stop or fix this? Could it be the new update? never had this problem

PS3 might be going out. Is it over-heating?

I dont know I have it well ventilated and never had probs b4. But it works fine blurays and games but it shutdown at random. What do you think will fix it if its a overheated problem?

if it's well ventilated and isn't shutting off during movies i'm not sure. If it feels hot you can put a small fan blowing on it if you play for a while. I asked, and heard terrible things about the intercooler... so I'm thinking you should avoid that.

I'm sure you can. But I'm not going to be the one that recommends opening the system up... lol.

It shut off 30 minutes into watching the incredible hulk then when i put it back on I saw the whole movie without any probs. Same thing happens in games and an hour ago it shuts off in 15min. I'm hope theres a fix for this

I had a game freeze up in my system, and then the whole thing shutoff and now everytime I cut it on it flashes
red, and cant get my game out - NO dont open it up - if its out of warranty, you can get it replaced or fixed for $149 plus tax ( in my case, in Olahoma there is no tax - just str8 up $149). I have already paid for the replacement and waiting for it in the mail. You swap out your old one for the replacement through the mail. You dont pay any shipping charges. First they send you a box and instructions, and then you send your PS3 to them - and then once they get it, they send you a new one or refurb or whatever. SO DONT OPEN IT UP and give them an excuse not to help. flashing red is supposed to mean overheated, but happening that often tells me there is a problem
