Default Metrodome enters administration

Some sad news -Metrodome Group has entered administration with all staff made redundant with immediate effect. 101 Films has bought some assets from the administration, and still distribute titles "through physical, digital and TV channels". Who knows how that will pan out though, so if there's any Metrodome titles that take your interest it might be worth picking them up now. It's worth noting that Metrodome haven't exactly been committed to Blu-Ray (possibly because of finances), with some of their best titles over the past few years - We Are the Best!, Mommy and White God to name a few - going DVD only.

Metrodome Group also includes Hollywood Classics, via which labels like Arrow and Eureka primarily licence their studio titles. Whether or not that will make any difference to them going forward, I don't know.

Great - goodbye World of Kanako UK release!

Pusher trilogy, although dvd only, is definitely worth getting.

They weren't great at home entertainment releases (still hugely annoyed that Mommy will likely never come to Blu-ray) but as theatrical distributors they were great, picked up a lot of interesting international releases, so I'm sad to see them go.

In terms of Blu-rays, I've been happy with their releases of their's that I have picked up, Donnie Darko is probably their biggest release, so pick that one up now if you haven't. Also pleased that they released Upstream Colour and Frances Ha which where two of my faves from 2012.

Got to try and pick up The House of the Devil and What We Do In The Shadows now before it's too late.

Sorry to see people loose their jobs.

Their home entertainment releases as others have said was a disgrace. Just look on the database here how their BD releases have dried up in the last 2 years with virtually nothing this year. Was a tragedy films like "We are the Best" never got a UK BD. They were too slow getting titles into cinemas and then releasing only on DVD.

If others can survive in the independent space and not just Curzon Artificial Eye who own their own cinemas so could they.

Yup, I was actually waiting for it to drop in price but not sure that'll happen now...

I wonder what it means for their catalogue, and whether other UK labels can license some of the films they still have the rights to?

May get Maniac too if that looks like it'll go OOP. Some of their DVD titles too, unless there's word on other labels getting them (thinking things like Evolution and Eden).

The House of the Devil is already OOP as far as I know. Might have to pick up The Innkeepers soon though...

I thought the USA release was the best version for this movie?

Funny how bad news never fails to bring out the armchair expert in some people.

Really hope Evolution and Eden get releases elsewhere, both looked really interesting.

I've seen House of the Devil rotating around CEX a couple times for a decent price, regret not picking it up sooner.

Real shame, and I hope all those that have lost their jobs the best in finding another. Metrodome might not have released the best discs (often just a few start-up trailers) but they released a very wide range and a lot of smaller foreign films that I doubt would have seen a release otherwise. They'll leave a gap that films fans will miss, especially theatrically.

Order it from Cex online, £10.50 delivered. I've just bought it along with Solaris & Misery, so should still be 1 left in stock.

Sad news about the company, but hopefully stuff like the Refn's and Chopper which are DVD only get picked up from another company and released on Blu.

Yeah those two in particular look like films that would appreciate a Blu-ray upgrade. Not seen either but really do want to - the fact they were DVD-only meant I was hesitant to buy them straight away though.

Yeah, Chopper specifically would be amazing, but that's because Andrew Dominik is one of my favourite filmmakers working at the moment. Not seen the Refn's though to be honest - I had Pusher and never watched it, but sold it on to get the trilogy, by which time the price had shot up so I never got round to getting them. Bleeder sounds interesting too (as does Fear X...big Turturro fan).

The House of the Devil is well worth picking up. Think I got it in the Play.com sale when they were shutting down for about £3, and I saw it a couple of years ago and loved it! Looking forward to the new Ti West film, which was due later this year but will have to keep an eye on it (I'm sure it'll see some sort of release).

So I'm guessing the upcoming Transformers steelbook I pre-ordered may not happen now.

Sad to see them go. They had some great niche titles, particularly horrors.

Sad news, lets hope some of the films they have the rights too get passed on to safe hands. Would love to see a blu of Chopper. I have been buying some of their horror/genre stuff on iTunes. The Strange Colour of your Body's Tears and Cub were released day and date as the (very) limited cinema release.

I have seen Maniac. It's a very underrated film IMO, with a really terrific soundtrack. It's just one of the many films on my wishlist (currently at 457 titles) that I haven't gotten around to buying yet.

I don't know if you've seen the original William Lustig version of Maniac, but I can highly recommend that film too, it's a lot more grittier than the new one though.
