Default ‘The Lost Boys’ TV Series Based On Movie In Works

http://deadline.com/2016/08/the-lost...as-1201805716/

EXCLUSIVE: As the CW is preparing to bid farewell to The Vampire Diaries, the network is eyeing a successor — another vampire drama based on a well known property from a top TV creator.

The CW has landed The Lost Boys, a series adaptation of the iconic 1987 Warner Bros. horror comedy movie, from Veronica Mars and iZombie creator Rob Thomas, Gulfstream TV and Warner Bros. Television.

Written by Thomas, The Lost Boys series re-imagines the cult Joel Schumacher film, which starred Jason Patric, Kiefer Sutherland, Jami Gertz, Corey Haim and Corey Feldman.

Envisioned for a seven-season run, it will tell a story spanning 70 years, each season chronicling a decade. Season one will be set in San Francisco during the Summer of Love, 1967. Each season, the humans, the setting, the antagonist and the story all change — only the vampires, our Lost Boys, who like the Peter Pan characters never grow up, remain the same.

The project, which will explore what it really means to be immortal, is executive produced by Thomas via Spondoolie Productions, his frequent collaborators Danielle Stokdyk and Dan Etheridge as well as Gulfstream principals Mike Karz and Bill Bindley

The idea sounds kinda interesting. But does it really need to be The Lost Boys? Couldn't it be something else? Oh well. I'll give it a chance.

Sounds good to me. The CW has quality programming. Sure they cast very attractive actors from all over the world, but I've never had a problem with young talent. Seems to be a lot of CW hate on these forums, but they are doing right by DC comics and also have other great shows like The 100.

Premise sounds an interesting new take on the source material, a bit Lost Boys meets American Horror Story. I hope it's good and not as vacant as Vampire Diaries (which I did enjoy at first but soon became all superficial angst and bugger all else).

This is Rob Thomas, of Veronica Mars and iZombie, it won't be anything like TVD.

The idea sounds kind of confusing but also a little interesting, and Rob Thomas hasn't let me down yet so I'll give it a shot.

I'll give it a shot, I just hope they don't ruin it.
The original film is one of my fave 80's films.

Not sure if this has actually been picked up to series or if just a Pilot was ordered.

I read the news story that said they envision this as a 7 season, 70 episode series, but that's a pretty bold prediction in this TV landscape in 2016. Most shows have a hard time making 4 to 5 seasons, let alone 7.

The CW tends to make pretty long shows, just hope the quality holds up longer than it did for TVD which pretty much went in the tank after 5 seasons.

Maybe The CW could pick Cruel Intentions? Are they better than NBC?

The CW has very small TV budgets compared to other networks, so some shows are able to last several seasons on there with very few viewers. Just don't expect a lot of variety in the things they do with their money. Supergirl might look a lot different on The CW.

But they're not a network that lacks business sense either. If a show is tanking, it's gone.
