Loved both episodes last night. Great visual style, interesting characters so far and it made me laugh a lot

I loved it and am hooked. I was wanting it to continue with the next episode after the first two were done. Very good show.

How was this? I've had some mild interest in watching this show. After all, it's an FX show, so it's probably pretty decent. I'm all ears, fellas.

It was okay I guess. Not completely sold on it, but I will keep watching. I was surprised they could use the f word so much when sex and drugs and rock and roll has like nine usages in each episode and is always censored

It's after 10pm on FX they can get away with using the f word and it wasn't used that much and for the person asking if the show is any good, it's ****ing great, don't listen to this guy he thinks Empire is a good show.

I don't know what it is about these FX non-comedies that I love so much, but I do. Louie, Wilfred, Baskets and now this...they're all so uncomfortable to watch. The television equivalent of that perverse "pleasure" you get from picking at a scab.

I'll be honest, I am from Georgia, and I grew up going to school in Elem and Middle where I was generally the only non-black kid in the class. So I learned all the same slang that was in the show for the most part. I was able to relate to so much of it, the drag queen and his boyfriend exchange just had me rolling. The dialogue was so authentic to what I grew up hearing, how it was executed. It actually made me smile more than laugh.

The only "off" thing is, Donald Glover's accent in this show clearly is not from Atlanta or Southern. He sounds like a Northern/Cali boy when his cousin and other characters clearly sound like they're from the South or the hood.

I guess his dad mentioned his character did attend Princeton in the show.

I didn't grow up in Atlanta or live there but have been there countless times and been in and around plenty from the hood. Not only that but I grew up around that kind of environment and still deal with it.

The show was great and it was refreshing. This is what I talk about when I say black characters need to be written like black characters and the race swapping needs to stop.

The "gay" scene was flat out hilarious because that's how it is there in Atlanta and how a lot of the black community reacts...They use jokes with the situation.

I think anyone that hates Empire would enjoy this.

It's only been two episodes but this has potential to be one of the better black oriented shows created.

Same here. Grew up around that environment, and still "talk" like that when I'm around that environment or similar folks.

That's exactly how that would be said in a real life situation in the hood and everybody would just laugh.

Like I said, the only thing weird was Donald Glover's character having no accent at all, hood or Southern.

Well I mean that's just his voice, he's from Stone Mountain so it's not inauthentic really, he's just not putting on more of an accent

Just watched the first two episodes and thought they were great. However I don't remember a drag queen or 'you're gay' scene? Maybe wasn't paying attention when it happened?

Anyways, nice dramedy with subtle humor. Loved how they showed how thin a line between laughing and crying in this type of environment with the mentally unstable guy in the holding area.

Always liked Donald Glover but my favorite character so far is the stoner buddy lol. Maybe made funnier is that he reminds me of Terrence Ross on my Raptors and as fans who follow the Raps closely know TRoss is considered an XBox fiend who wouldn't be a stretch to be a full blown pothead like this guy. To clarify, not claiming he is a pothead as he is an athelete and likely has regular tests but I would t be the least bit surprised.

How? That scene was like 2 minuteslong. It's before the end of episode 2 when he gets bailed out by Vanessa.

I have a feeling my PVR cut the ends of both episodes. I'm going to rewatch in demand. I think I read something about a guy dressed like Batman at some point which I don't recall seeing either.
