Demi Lovato Joins "From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series"
by Lynette Rice
June 9, 2015

Demi Lovato is going gritty: the singer/actress has joined the cast of El Rey’s supernatural thriller "From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series".

Lovato announced her role via Instagram from the drama’s Austin, TX set posing with Robert Rodriquez, "Me and the boss @rodriguez.... We worked #fromdusktilldawn.... Get it?? Y'all ain't ready...."

This marks Lovato’s first role in an adult series since her arc on "Glee" in the 2013-14 season.

Season 2 launches on Aug. 25 at 9 p.m. ET on El Ray.

I saw the first 2 episodes of it and it didn't impress me at all. I had the opposite effect..I was bored.

It just comes across as one crazed, trigger-happy person who hears/sees things that aren't there and shoots anyone who even looks at him wrong while his brother..the normal one, is constantly trying to calm his trigger-happy brother down. Been there, done that...gets old fast.

After 2 episodes..I'm done. Those 2 character types have been over played. I actually got very annoyed half way through the second episode.

The promo images shows off vampires, but all it seems is like one of the characters just 'imagines' the vampires talking to him, instead of vampires actually existing in this world.

Kinda felt cheated there..yeah...wanted vampires, got some crazy/disturbed character who 'imagines' vampires and demons instead.

Question, how many here actually get the El Rey Network?

I assume not many, especially those here from overseas. Isn't this show also a Netflix exclusive to some international territories and is posted online as it airs?

I get El Rey on Directv, but unfortunately it's only in SD. So I couldn't watch it week to week in season 1 and waited until Netflix U.S. got the rights.

Now season 2 is airing in 2 weeks and Directv now has El Rey on demand and strangely in HD. So, I'll have to wait until it's posted there. I will not sit through this show in SD.

They aren't going to cram everything into the first two episodes..give it a chance

Exactly, things start getting crazy once they get to episode 6.

They first few episodes focus on some of the missing pieces that weren't covered in the original movie.

What does everyone think to the second series so far? Hasn't been as good as the first just feels like a big step down in quality by comparison.

Seems like they're building up to a major showdown against Lord Malvado.

Just binged both seasons and I loved the first season since it felt like remake of the movie over 10 episodes. Second season kind of went off the rails.

El Rey is an interesting concept from a programming perspective, but it's going to continue to go nowhere unless they get an HD feed on more providers.

Season 3 Trailer

The premiere episode is already available for free on iTunes. It was a lot of fun and the season seems to be going to interesting places.
[Show spoiler]Kate as a villain should be fun.
