I would like the Dick van Dyke show to be released in 4K which would improve the show in a big way over the current blu-Ray release.

Well they may have been scanned in 4K, but no one has seen them in 4k, as they haven't had a 4K release yet, & after the 4K scan I'd think all the work was done in 2K...& I'd think very few people would notice the difference.

If it was shot on film, it can be scanned higher than HD... and can look better than its HD release. IF you have a large 4K TV, you'd be able to see the difference. IF you don't, then you wouldn't... just like how you needed a good HDTV to see more of the detail in an HD transfer. So, we'll reach the limit of how much can be brought out of film... and maybe 4K is that limit for most movies new or old... but as long as it wasn't shot on videotape OR with a fixed 2K resolution digital camera, then it can be better. |
