just played 2 games of the beta. in hut mode.


so far the mechanics are an improvement.
passing is more accurate and easier to be accurate
dmen straddle the blue line on back passes nicely to stat onsides
theres a stat for each player like heavy hitter or hard forechecker etc and when enough of those points are on your lines the style is activated.
goalies poke check puck way too much
goalies make nice desperation type saves. sometimes only getting s piece of the puck leaving pucks on doorstep
there are "sets" that look to be where you can dump cards its not yet clear if you can dump dupes into them or just unwanted cards. but those sets then can be traded for a pack (this is likely more expansive on release )
animations are smooth.

so far thats what ive noticed after 2 games in hut mode

My biggest issue with last years game was the goaltending was terrible (like an All-star Game), and there was no discernable difference between the players. They were rated way too high. If these issues are addressed, I'll really look forward to NHL 17.

i cant judge the goaltending yet as i purposely played on the amateur tier ( which is rookie difficulty ) so i can see , if there is any , difference as i crank up the difficulty levels ... but in thos e 2 games on rookie i scored 23 and 22 goals and the only goal scored on me was my goaltender knocking a rebound into my own net ( not a good sign ) ....

as far as ratings .. most of my guys have been 79-85 range with the likes of guys like vanek , nieto , dupuis ( uhh hello EA hes not an active player anymore so why is he in HUT as a regular player ) , scrivens , halak ... honestly all decent players that had ratings in the area i would say they should have ..

Little bump on this one... I'm not a hardcore gamer that buys the new game ever year ( Madden, FIFA, NHL, The SHow, WWE, Tiger/Rory PGA, etc ) whatever it may be, But really am looking at this one. Any new good updates?.. I usually go off IGN, Metacritic, and Bluray.com.. This site doesn't seem to have alot of love for Hockey unfortunately so what are some other good game forums to check out? I know theres Google, but Maybe some that other members are linked too.

NHL games are my most played games every year but yeah conversation seems to fall flat here. Beta had a lot of issues but the gameplay was a bit better. Hopefully EA listen to the feedback for once and sort issues. The menus, card designs in HUT and stuff like that make it look much nicer. Also happy with things like draft champions, team heroes, sets and all that nice stuff finally being copied from other ultimate team modes. Synergy is a nice change too. The old chemistry system was awful. The fact you couldn't pair some real defensive pairs without a penalty was absurd. Even better being able to use somebody like Karlsson as a forward instead of defender without penalty is great.

Hopefully when it switches to Frostbite the game sees a bigger overhaul but happy enough with the new additions this year. Really hope with Frostbite they also bring back outdoor rinks.

my biggest complaint is that they really need to get the HUT single player experience up to snuff ... i mean madden has so many different options for playing hut games and also unlocking cards in the process that it keeps you playing ... HUT only has limited tournament structure and you only win coins to buy packs ... and its too hard winning enough coins to get packs .. that mostly ( atleast in my experience ) give crappy cards ... in the last 4 years of playing .. i have never gotten ( through buying packs ) a crosby , or malkin , or ovechkin , or any top tier star player like that ... sorry but thats just ridiculous ... HUT is hte mode i want to play almost exclusively , but that makes it too hard to keep going at it .. and just like with 16 after about 3 months i end up quitting playing altogether , which is sad as i love hockey so much .... that said . i have decided to even hold off buying 17 until the inevitable black friday 40$ sales ...

Would also like more solo challenges and stuff since I personally hate playing it online and just like building up my team. Between draft champions and sets there will be more opportunities to get packs and stuff. But solo gauntlets and stuff which have ever increasing rewards in terms of coins and packs would be even better. And like Madden a player for completing them would be nice. That being said so far in Madden 17 the solo stuff is garbage so far compred to 16 so hard to praise that at the moment too.

I'm fine with the pull rates though. If everybody was pulling players like Crosby the mode would become pointless. While pulling a Crosby or Ovechkin has eluded me I have had plenty of other good pulls so can't complain. You will hate me but I pulled Malkin 4 times in 15 This year my best pull has MOV Seguin who was going for over a million coins back then.

i dont think it should be that common .. but i mean over the course of 4 years i have opened hundreds and upon hundreds of packs .. and to not get atleast one of those .. also the special cards like TOTW or any other special cards i got 1 ...... 1 .... yet i see hundreds of them all for sale on the auction .. so i am i really just having that much bad luck .. cause according to one of the trophy sites its not like theres millions of people playing ... in fact i have some trophys that only show like 100,000 people even getting that arent hard to even get ... so the amount of people playing compared to how many of those cards i never get seems odd to me ...and i dont play online either especially in HUT becasue there are way too many people who are willing to dump way too much real money on the game and so its completely unbalanced teams .... which is evident as the few times i have played online the way the person was playing it was evident they were terrible at the game , but they had the better players ( mainly goalie ) so it made it a chore to win .....

i didnt buy madden this year and dont plan to .. my interest in football has been lessening more and more every year ...

Being a Bruins fan, it pains me to have helped a Canadiens fan. Seriously though, the rivalry seems different now that Subban's gone. I'm sure you'll feel the same once Chara retires.

This series needs:

1. A dynamic commentary that Madden has (not Emrick).
2. All of the players should have their faces scanned.
3. The coaches!
4. Old time teams the way the NBA2K has.
5. A more accurate ratings system.
6. Allow player/roster editing. The MLB The Show games are great because people adjust the rosters so well that the AA and AAA teams even have the real current players. These files are free for anyone to download.
7. Allow the user to create goalie masks. The ones they've created are hideous.
8. The difference between Rookie (scoring 21 goals a game)/Veteran (very challenging) is too much of a gap.
9. Fix the goaltending. Price and Quick should be noticibly better than Cam Talbot.
10. Most importantly, allocate some more money into this series. I don't know about any mode other than franchise, so fantasy draft and hut don't interest me. This series could be great again. The gameplay needs improvement. Like Goodintentions said, the NFL is lousy anyway and Madden sells regardless.

i tell ya years ago sony nailed the commentary .... in faceoff .. when you banked a puck off the boards to a player .. you heard that in the commentary .. it was amazing .... id love to see icon passing again too .. sorry but the passing is still so hard to be accurate if you have 2 guys near each other ...

Agreed. It started with Lucic leaving and now Subban it's just not the same, what a shame. Chara is old so I almost feel bad picking on him

Lucic was a tough loss, but he isn't worth $6 million a year at this point of his career. There was an episode of Behind the B where the players are miked and in one particular Boston/Montreal game, Subban laid a cheap shot near the boards on Bergeron. Patrice got up and angrily asked "What the hell?" Subban replied "Sorry, I thought you were Marchand." Very funny stuff.

Chara deserves the boos in Montreal since he almost killed Pacioretty.

I've never seen a player dominate offensively the way Subban could, especially against Boston late in any game. Last year was a fluke because of Price. Weber is a great player, but the pressure is really going to be on him in Montreal.

Yah, I'm still very upset about the Subban trade and will never forgive this management group for doing so. It's yet another example of picking the coach above the star player. I'm happy for Subban, he will finally be able to be himself in Nashville.

Big year for the Bruins too after missing the playoffs the last 2 years. Still think Julien is a good coach but Rask had a horrible season last year so that doesn't help.

The Bruins will miss the playoffs this year again. Talk about bad trades, Chiarelli was a fool for trading Seguin. Eriksson could have been a terrific player but after two concussions in his first year as a Bruin, I don't know if he'll ever live up to his potential. I know there was a lot of behind the scenes nonsense with Seguin, but he's a kid for crying out loud.

The B's have no defense. Sweeney is an awful GM. You don't trade a third round pick for Zac Rinaldo. I don't think the NHL 17 would even let you make that trade. You cannot give Kevan Miller and Adam McQuaid (both bottom 6 defensemen) big contracts. They have Kreji for $7 million a year (thanks Chiarelli), they let Eriksson go and sign Backes (another center) for the same money Erikkson got in Vancouver.

Julien is an outstanding coach, but he'll unnecessarily take the fall after this season. Cam Neely was my favorite player growing up, but the only time I want to see him again is when I watch Dumb and Dumber. Julien, Rask, Bergeron, Marchand, Pastrňák and Vatrano are the only members of the 2016-2017 Bruins that I want to see next year.
