Several weeks ago I ordered the Star Trek TNG Motion Picture Collection from Amazon.ca. I specifically wanted the older (black box) set to match the TOS-era set that I've had for years, plus the bonus disc!
![]() Anyways, it arrived and as anyone who has either set would know, the movies themselves come in slim amaray cases, all of which are housed in a thicker cardboard box. It should also have a plastic slipcover with the name of the set, as shown in this picture: ![]() I haven't seen this set in-store for years (and likely never will now that it has been repacked), but I always remember it having the outer plastic slipcover. The TOS-era set I got back in 2010 certainly does. Anyways, contacted Amazon and they sent a replacement ("sorry your original item did not arrive as described, we'll send a replacement, yadda yadda yadda") and it just arrived today. Shrinkwrapped and everything, but no plastic sleeve. ![]() ![]() Once you take off the shrink and backing paper it's literally just a plain black box with the starfleet logo on the one side. Here's a picture of a Canadian set to show that it did in fact come with the sleeve at one point: ![]() Last edited by nmycon; 09-01-2016 at 11:56 PM. |

![]() Normally I don't care about slipcovers at all, but I feel like in this case it's a pretty big part of the packaging. Without it, it's really just a plain black box and looks pretty stupid ![]() |

Looking at the OP you can see that the text from the bottom left slides up with the slip cover, but it's been printed on the box of the newer release.
If there's no specs on the back of the box I'd say that the slip is missing, but even if there are you should have "Star Trek The Next Generation" on the cover (perhaps there was a 1/4 slip at the top?). |
