I had no idea that was Jen Lawrence till I saw her name. She looks different with those contact lenses/blonde hair.
Budget is 120 million, and going up against the lasting box office of Rogue One Star Wars 3D.

Passengers is a 3D "romantic Sci Fi Adventure", set for December 25th 2016 in theaters.

Good question. Hopefully worldwide 3D. Being released on Christmas day, it's a good option to give theaters.

When the heck are they gonna put the trailer out? The movie is out so soon relatively speaking! I read there was some weird legal wrangle going on, something to di with the VFX technology or something? It's hard keeping track of what exactly the situation is in the main thread.

Need to see trailer before I judge but big budget sci fi in 3D has my money.

While it does not specify that this is the US poster, Comingsoon.net has the same one on their website. That would make me think it was being released in the US in 3D also.

Had no idea this would be in 3D. If it utilize 3D like Gravity. Then i am so on board for this one and will be adding it to the 3D Blu-Ray collection pronto

I beg to differ they can really do some great 3D in such movies just look at Gravity. Lets hope they really push 3D to the maximum here with awesome 3D with Depth and pop outs. So it will be a great 3D Blu-Ray to buy when it comes out.

Glad to see there's a lot more to the storyline than just a romance movie in space. Looks promising. The 3D will hopefully be strong.

I just meant that the general cinematography shown in the trailer does not strike me as being 100% photographed for 3D--not that the entire space/sci-fi genre has no 3D potential. You can use 3D for any genre. The trailer has an emphasis on horizontal motion and cutting, rather than long takes and z-axis movement (although I realize it's just a trailer). There is great 3D potential in those VFX-heavy disaster scenes shown toward the end though. At the very least, I'm certain it will receive a premium conversion and use 3D slightly better than Star Wars: TFA.

You are exactly right. With GRAVITY, the director had planned for 3D from the very beginning. And when it was later decided to go the conversion route, everything was still composed and shot with 3D in mind. Did the director of IMITATION GAME shoot PASSENGERS for 3D? Considering this is being touted as a romance in space, my guess is "no." My guess is that he probably shot a flat 2D movie without a thought to 3D. Just as Justin Lin did with STAR TREK BEYOND and Joss Whedon did with AVENGERS AoU. Still, I have no idea what the director of PASSENGERS had in mind so I hope I'm wrong in this case. Fingers crossed but I'm not hopeful.
