Is this worth picking up if you played the original?

At 59.99$, it would have to be one of your all time favorite game to be worth the upgrade. It's a cool, fun game, but if you already own it, the minor graphical update and added DLC might not be worth the price of a new game.
Square Enix should have charged 39.99$ at the most out of the door.

From what I hear it's not a huge upgrade. I certainly wouldn't pay 60 bucks for it but considering it's one of my favorite games I'll grab it when it drops $20-25.

Got the art book copy for 30 bucks on Black Friday. I dig it so far. I tried the ps3 version when it was free with ps+. I enjoyed it, but didn't spend much time with it. I can say that the upgrade seems almost nonexistent though.

Anyone who got this digitally answer me this: Where's the non-story DLC? Not seeing the boost to the ranking system you get from those envelopes, and none of the outfits are in my wardrobe.

Yeah, the graphical upgrade is barely noticeable other than 1080p. No way Square should've charged 59.99 like they did for an older game with hardly any major changes from the old PC version.

Go to the backstreet Town market (near the steps with the dragon statues on it in the city) and there's a vendor highlighted that sells all of your special DLC outfits. My favorites are the 50% bulletproof ones and Agent 47. They cost a lot of money though in game. Just Cause's main character is here too.

I apologise for digging up such an old thread, however, I have recently been given this game and was wondering whether it's worth a play through?

Bear in mind that I'm a proper trophy w h o r e and don't want to start it unless I can at least get the Platinum I know, I know! I should be able to play it for enjoyment and not worry about trophies but I can't help it!

I can't speak to the trophies, but it was one of my favorite games of the last generation. If you like open world games you'll love it.

I have played this game three times getting 100% on PS3 &4 and the full 1000GS for the base game on the Xbox 360 version so I would say it's worth playing.

I owned it on PS3 and liked it so much I rebought it for Xbox One. It's definitely worth a play through.

its time consuming but the platinum is definitely attainable. Quite a fun game.

No word of a Sleeping Dogs 2. If it's going to happen, we will hopefully hear something e3 2016 from United Front Games under square/enix.

I have to finish the DLC Enter the Dragon quest yet.

I just finished the story, and it was amazing, unfortunately the combat was clunky (unresponsive/input lag?) if they made a sequel, they should give the combat system an overhaul

but even that couldn't stop me from enjoying the game. I got it for $15, and it's definitely worth it. I'll do the side missions now (I concentrated on the story)

I thought the combat was great. Maybe its bc I compared it to GTA but the melee was so much better in SD

compared to batman, it felt off to me. for example, countering doesn't work every time

I actually enjoyed the fighting more than the Batman games; I never had an issue countering in Sleeping Dogs, but it never seemed to work well in the Arkham games.

Well I guess thats your first mistake. I dont think the games are really all that comparable especially when you go down to the mechanics. To me SD is an open world game with combat as a secondary gameplay element whereas Batman is a combat focused action adventure game which later expanded to be more open world in later entries. The emphasis in what they are going for is different. If you go in expecting Batman level combat, then yeah you'll likely be disappointed but I think SD did well for what it did. Its better than other sandbox games in its genre.

Its been years since I played SD but the Arkham games got overly complicated by AK. I thought it was best in the first game but the later games added way too many gadgets and things you had to memorize on the controller and how certain gadgets worked with different enemy types. Good luck if you take a break and try to jump back in later. IMO it became a a mess. I thought SD was manageable and never really had much issue with it

Sleeping Dogs' combat is a lot more realistic with the moves, in that the hero isn't flying across the street in a split second to punch one guy and then flying back across the street to punch the other guy as with Batman. This is more like a fight Bruce Lee would be capable of. Timing is critical on the counters, so as soon as the enemy begins to strike, counter. A second too late and you'll get hit.

I was hoping for a sequel, but United Front Games instead worked on some online version of Sleeping Dogs from the look of it, and no news since.

Square-Enix really screwed up there in not striking while the iron was hot

Yeah, I agree. I think they were waiting to see what kind of sales reaction Sleeping Dogs PS4 would get, but by charging full price for an older game, they stifled the potential to get this game out to more players right away.

Even so, it's still possible.
