Default For Those Who Hated Zombie's Halloween remake...

For Those Who Hated Zombie's Halloween remake, prepare to be outraged again. Work is about to start on "Halloween II", exactly from where Zombie's ended. I have only viewed Zombie's remake the one time, at the cinema, and I know there is a lot of hatred for the film, personally, don't think it is anywhere near the first one, but not many would come close to it, is a masterpiece. I do intend on buying the remake on Blu when I get my player, however, I see no need to make a follow-up of a "remake".

Read it and weep people

Well, I'm not surprised, but before Malek Akkad makes plans for to many remake sequels he needs to see if Halloween 2 remake is going to do anything. I personally won't go them since I dispised the remake of the original so.

Nothing beats the original. Zombies theatrical cut was OK. His unrated cut was horrid! Didn't need to see that rape scene.

I'm one of those who harbors ill will and resentment towards Zombie's remake, lol. I didn't expect anything to surpass the original, but I was hoping that I'd at least be entertained as I was with all the Halloween sequels up to Zombie's remake. I pretty much loathed Zombie's remake as it lacked any enjoyment for me--the pacing was horrible; the characters were all uninteresting with the character of Michael himself being the biggest offender. Zombie does have a unique directing style. I'll give him that as the film is great to 'look' at it, but there is absolutely nothing else redeeming about the film to me.

Sadly, I'm a little disappointed as Michael Myers is all my time favorite horror movie villain. I wish they would scrap Zombie's remake altogether (much like they'll be doing with the new Superman and how they did with The Incredible Hulk) and somehow salvage this series, but if they continue with the same storyline as Zombie's mess, then I fear my interest in the series may finally come to an end. I'm sure I'll still end up seeing any sequel hoping that it's enjoyable, but I'd rather not see Michael Myers embodied by an ex professional wrestler. I miss the average-sized stealthy Michael whose past was mysterious as he was pure 'evil' with no cliched serial killer background. Now he's become a Jason wannabe lol.

I haven't seen Zombie's version yet, but am looking forward to do so soon.

One thing I just don't get is why people always have to compare a potential "remake" (which was more of a revisioning from what I've read so far about the movie) to the original, especially if it is a classic like Halloween.
No remake will ever come close to be better than the classics. But some can still be great, as everyone should watch them as an upgraded version of the film. A lot of the older ones just aged a lot and you can see it (not saying it's a bad thing). A "remake" can actually bring in more viewers who might get curious to watch the original version, which will make it even more a classic.

Some great horror movie remakes are-

Dawn of the Dead
The Thing
The Fly

Bad ones-

The Fog
The Grudge
Invasion of the Body Snatchers

Agreed that The Thing, Dawn of the Dead and The Fly are great remakes of classic horror films, but if you're over 30 years old and have seen the original Halloween, I would be very surprised if you actually enjoy it. Then again maybe you will.

I actually didn't have much of a problem with them remaking Halloween. I never expected anything to live up to the original, but I at least thought I'd enjoy it. I didn't. It was just an awful film--remake or not. Michael was just comparable to every other white trash serial killer in this film so there was nothing that stood out about his character anymore, if you ask me. Even the subpar original sequels (2, 4, 5, 6, H20, EVEN Resurrection and that's tough to say) are much more enjoyable as popcorn flicks than this.

But that's just my opinion. Some people on here enjoyed it quite a bit. I think absolute diehard fans of the series won't like it that much whereas people who liked Zombie's previous work are much more inclined to dig this film.

I am in the same boat. I went into this movie with lofty expectations, and I couldn't have been more disappointed. It seemed as though he removed every bit of charm from the original, and tried to spell everything out so that the viewer didn't have to use any thought or imagination to watch the film. The choice to make Michael a behemoth didn't sit well either. I wanted to like it, I really did, but outside of a good score I could find very little to like.

Definitely, I agree. You can see a lot of his personality through his movies.

I think the new Friday the 13th might be pretty good too (not Zombie though)

The Thing, and The Fly I will agree with you on. Love both of them. A lot of movies I still haven't seen, a lot of the remakes. Remember the original "The Fog", sure I have it on dvd, but haven't seen the remake. I need to get busy!!

I thought Zombie's Halloween was terrible and unnecessary. Masterpieces should never be remade. I'm not a fan of Zombie's other work either but, IMHO, Halloween is his worst film to date.

I think maybe because we have such an emotional attachment to the original movies that are remade. I was 9 when the original came out, I didn't see it at the time, saw it the first time when it aired on Tv, so not sure when that would have been, 1980 perhaps? The thing is, some of us have lived with these movies for 30 years, so when a remake is made, some of us may hate them just for the fact that they are a remake, and are fooling with "our" films. I have only seen the Zombie version at the movies, so I can't comment on the different versions, although I welcome the chance to see them, but again, could probably do without a rape scene. The Original Halloween and the remake will be the 1st 2 Blu's I buy when I get a player. When I did see the remake at the cinema, I remember a number of people walking out in the first 10 minutes, due to the amount of langauge in it. One big difference in them, the original doesn't tell you why Michael is "evil", he just is, where as Zombie's version, tries to give you the back story as to why he is what he is, posing the question between the 2 movies, is evil born or is evil created???.

i love Halloween II almost as much as the original, but I've always felt in part 2 that you see far too much of Michael. It really is the same as "Jaws" and it's sequel, in Jaws II, that damn shark in on screen all the time. Maybe both directors of the both films felt that you saw "the monster" in the original movies, so no need to to hide them in the next installment.

As I said, love both the original, and Halloween 2, which I throw on maybe every 2 months. To be honest, I haven't see the others in a very long time, if I was sitting watching them, I'm sure stuff would come back to me, but at the moment, can't remember that much. All I remember, in many of the sequels, Michael's mask looks crap, In 4, looks like he was wearing shoulder pads, just didn't look right, I remember in 5 or 6 that a guy's head blows up, "the man in black" confused the hell of me, and then Not sure it it was the last one, the black dude, with his karate crap, remember thinking right then, "that totally sucks"...

I have never seen one movie hated more than Rob's Halloween. People seem to act as though he slapped John Carpenter in the face, but he just put a new spin on it, I for one am looking forward to Halloween II. And I am a huge fan of all the originals.

AHHH C$#@! Stupid Rob Zombie. Just leave Halloween alone! Then maybe in 10 years do a proper franchise reboot w/ a talented director not some trashy rock star or whatever this joke of a director is. Halloween is my favorite horror franchise and after seeing what Rob did to it I honestly like he raped this franchise. Have to wonder what Carpenter thought.

The Backround story behind this was sooooo f-up.
A little blond chubby child (wrong cast imho) becomes nuts and therefore
heīs preparing over a hundred Piņata masks...

I just canīt associate the child with the grown up Michael.
