Yeah. It's almost! Just "UHD" without 4K.

My favourite Tim Burton's film. I still enjoy a movie from Tim Burton's director.

I really liked this one! And it'll probably look fantastic in UHD. Also, it's a 1.85:1-framed film, which means it'll fill out the tv nicely.
Just ordered myself the book trilogy as well, as this film made me curious about the further exploits of the characters.

Day 1

Surprised how dark/violent it was. Most of my theater was young kids.

Sometimes it almost feels like their reasoning is "As long as there's no nudity, anything goes!"

It was gross, but clearly in a fantasy context, so I thought okay for a PG-13.

Relevant:

It's not just the MPAA, I was watching a making of Video Violence from Camp Motion Pictures where one of the filmmakers was talking about an incident where he was working at a video store (digression: remember those?!) and a mother with a baby in her arms came in, picked up a video (can't remember what he said - something with "Dismember" in the title, clearly a splatter film) and she went to the counter and asked if there was any nudity in it. "I don't think so, but it's R for violence." "Oh that's okay, my kids can watch anything as long as there's no nudity."

It's the kind of backwards mentality you get with small-minded idiots who think nudity is more violent than violence itself.

While I agree that nudity is worse than violence, even I will say it's getting out of hand. I haven't seen this movie so I can't talk about this one per se, I'm amazed how the Magnificent 7 wasn't R. A man's ear being brutally shot off, moderately bloody death scenes sometimes lasting 3 minutes in one particular character's case, another's lasting at one minute but is notably being more brutal, people being stabbed with shovels, lots of bloody corpses from the bad guys, bloody stabbings, good god, how is this not R. IMO this is worse than Mad Max: Fury Road. At least the tone was sadly lighter and the setting was more fantastical than 7's historical time.

I think the MPAA is relenting/acceptance of extreme violence as a countermeasure to what can and is being shown on network and cable channels.

Just saw it again. I love it so much. I get grin at the end when the skeltons run out and fight the hollows. I noticed Burton's cameo this time.

I also love the Sleepy Hollow-esque atmosphere when Jake and Franklin get to the island.

Makes me sad Eva Green isn't our new Mary Poppins. Don't know if she can sing but she captures Julie Andrews' spirit so well with her performance.

Nudity shouldn't be an issue with ANY rating. Sexual content is where ratings should come into play. The human body in and of itself should not be something that kids are not allowed to see, but using it in a sexual matter or having a "sex scene" should be for mature audiences. I will gladly show my kids nudity 1000x's before I show them something violent.

Yeah, he's in one of the rides in the third act on the pier. There's a close-up of his face getting hit by a skeleton or something.

I once substituted at a kids school once, and during a break, a little 5-6 year old wanted me to read a children's book to her. Turns out, this book was about the human life and actually showed the sexual act and described it in a simple, but not dumbed-down, way. And the child really appreciated it and didn't seem to take any issue with it at all. I don't view seeing sex as children as long as the filmmaker goes about showing it in a careful and considerate matter.
Issues such as rape and sexual violence however should be just as off-limits to children as regular violence. I actually feel really sad for how the US and other super conservative countries are trying to keep their children away from seeing this very natural action between consenting adults, but gladly shove bloody gore straight in their faces like it's nobody's business.
