Lightbulb Does anyone here play Santa Claus?

HO HO HO!

I admit, I am the reluctant Santa. I say that because before my poor brother-in-law died in 2002 at age 45 (one day AFTER my birthday) the family pushed me into doing Santa because no one else would after my brother-in-law died. So, I would be the wise cracking Santa in hopes they stop asking me. However, they love the jokes and insist I play Santa.

The thing is, the suit is the same cheap-ola suit my father bought. Now about 30 years old. My father has worn it, my older brother, brother-in-law, and myself. My other two brothers might have worn it at least once.

So, this year I am saying goodbye to that pathetically cheap, worn & smelly suit. I decided to embrace the part. I have about $320 worth of professional Santa stuff on order. Including real santa boots.

But now my focus will change. I'll shy away from the crass Santa jokes and refocus on "The True meaning of Christmas". Many Christian families don't let their kids believe in Santa because it takes focus away from the meaning of the Holiday. But my title will be "Kris Kringle: The Real Santa Claus". I figure maybe strict Christian familes will let the children have a Santa as long as he believes in the True Spirit of the holiday.

So, anyone else play Santa?

THIS IS NOT A RELIGOUS THREAD. PLEASE DON'T MAKE IT ONE!

I don't have a wife or kids or family in general so I don't need to play Santa. But I can see the fun for those who do. Nice way to entertain the kids too.

Check out Amazon.com or search google. Some nice ones can be had for well under $100. Mind you, some models don't include the beard and wig. Some of you may think I am nuts because I already spent that kind of money and maybe more to complete the costume.

Since I love Halloween costumes but no longer observe it, this the next best thing.

if i do ever commit to something like this, i'd go all out and just grow my beard & mustache out. hunting season is about a month before xmas here in WI and it's cold hunting w/o facial hair. just throw some white face paint into the beard and voila: santa claus.

My son turned 1 the day before Halloween...... so he might be frightened if I pull that stuff...... maybe when he's older..... but I doubt it!!!!!

Sometimes I do resemble Billy-Bob-Thorton though

See how he responds to the mall Santa. On the other hand, you could wear the suit and omit the hair so he recognizes you. Maybe even let him see you put the beard on so he knows it is you. That way you can take pictures as Santa without him crying.

FYI: My suit arrived Monday the 10th. Here is the suit, but I have a different beard. http://www.coolsantasuits.com/product/2393
You can't tell me that isn't a beautiful suit, especially when compared to the red ones.

I ordered a pair of white leather Gauntlets, which are those 3 Musketeer-type gloves. They are long enough to fold a cuff and make for one fine looking Kris Kringle.

Of course I go big. Why do you think I bought blu-ray? The kids will love it. So will the adults as only a couple know I have the suit, but I won't give details.

When you go from that mediocre red and matted white crap, to this beauty, everyone will look like this .
