Here are 5 favorites from my collection where a song matched to images makes for an all-time spectacular film opening. Enjoy!
#5 For Your Eyes Only - Sheena Easton (For Your Eyes Only) 1981 #4 The End - The Doors (Apocalypse Now) 1979 #3 Grease - Frankie Valli (Grease) 1978 #2 Stayin Alive - The Bee Gees (Saturday Night Fever) 1977 #1 Nobody Does It Better - Carly Simon (The Spy Who Loved Me) 1977 Interestingly, the Bond films land two entries in my top five, and John Travolta plays a part in two of my top five. ![]() |

It's interesting, it's the one out of my five selections that uses a hit song to somber or a serious effect, though no less a memorable one. My other four use songs to a more lively or elegant effect. |

Good ones mentioned, Apocalypse Now is definitely number one for me too.
Many good Bond ones, for some reason I usually think of Live and Let Die first. |

I'm not sure AN would be my #1 (right now I'm leaning toward To Live and Die in LA) but it's right up there.
When I watched the BD a year or so ago it had been decades since I had seen it. I wasn't really impressed when I saw it during its initial theatrical run and I'm not entirely sure I ever watched it on TV/VHS/DVD. And yet, when I was preparing to start the BD I found myself humming 'The End' without even realizing why and I did a huge double-take when the BD started. (And not for nothing, I was quite a bit more impressed that time around...it's a hell of a film) |

Love the iconics like Boogie Nights, Bond, anything by/influenced by Saul Bass, etc. but thought I'd add some fun ones.
I wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't throw Scott Pilgrim vs the World into the mix: Also my all-time favorite Christmas movie. Nothing gets the holidays started like this: Zombieland: and, of course, Deadpool: |
