Really pisses me off no one picked up this series to keep it going , it had a great cast , story and visuals second to none .
Never gonna watch anything on NBC again cause they don't know how to handle gold when it's in their hands .

I still haven't seen the last 2 or 3 episodes. I was watching it on demand, and for whatever reason Bright House removed it from the list. I think it is on Prime though, so I can watch it there.

I would be tempted to get the entire collection because so many times I would get caught up in the imagery and symbols that I would have to think about the story line and how it was all connected. (My wife always got freaked out when I watched it though, haha)

The Hannibal S3 Blu set is amazing. Definitely the best season of the series. I liked how they incorporated elements from Hannibal, Red Dragon, and Hannibal Rising in this season. The Italian sequences in episodes 1-5 were especially impressive. I love Europe, and the initial scenes of Paris & then Italy were stunning.

That being said, this was an especially tough season to get through. The 2nd half of the season with the RD storyline was quite horrific - this is one of the most disturbing stories to ever be translated to screen (from an original novel). IMHO, the re-telling of RD is far superior to either feature film based on the novel - even though this version modernizes the story for the 21st century.

RA was amazing as the tortured & disturbed psychopath Francis Dolarhyde; the actress who played the blind woman (she was also in True Blood) did a great job as well.

A point, and I know this is nit-picking:

2) The original RD novel (and I believe the two films) made it obvious that FD/The Tooth Fairy targeted the Leeds & The Jacobi families based on the home films that he saw while working at a film production/development company; the novel & films took place in the '80's, back when this type of technology was quite primitive, and it wasn't as easy for people to develop home video footage of themselves that effectively - therefore, they would send this out to production companies to be developed (at least, I think that's what happened here).

Conversely, in the 21st century, people can take this type of home video footage with their I-phones (or maybe even movie cameras), and there wouldn't be the need for them to send this footage off to an outside company. So, while it was still clear that FD got ahold of this home video footage because of his job, the reasoning behind why the families would have sent this out for development doesn't make as much sense these days.

I think Season 2 was the best by far. Season 3 had its moments of greatness though.

Question

I watched some of the first season and enjoyed it. Whether I pick it up again on BD or streaming depends on this: Does S3 have a satisfying, definitive finale, or was it left open? I have no interest in investing the time to watch a story that will never be completed. Opinions on the conclusion? (No spoilers, of course.)

It's satisfying and open.

They knew it probably wasn't going to get picked up so they made the ending work as a series finale.

Any more info on the complete series box set? I presume it's just like most TV box sets where they just repackage the seasons into a box.

A bit of both, actually.

If this wasn't based on a series of novels, then the ending of season three does feel like a definite finale.

Depending on literally how one wants to take the finale, it's still open-ended enough to allow for more seasons.

Was it ever confirmed that this would happen?

I'm tempted by the UK one but the cover is awful and the UK release of season 3 is inferior.

Unless we're told otherwise, I'm thinking this is the case.

Has anyone seen a copy of this yet? I know it's just a repackage, but does that mean seasons 2-3 have slips on them?

I heard a rumour....somewhere....that there may indeed be more seasons.

Bryan Fuller confirmed that there is going to be a meeting with the cast and crew about moving forward with more seasons.

If they did, would they not be pulling a GOT and making the story up as they went along, no longer based on the source material? Didn't they pretty much cover everything in the novels in the first 3 seasons?

They can still do their version of Silence of the Lambs.

Everything but the "Silence of the Lambs", and the characters exclusive to that source material.
