Just for a bit of fun
Pick one film that you consider to be a true classic, a masterpiece in film making and most importantly YOUR favourite film, a film you can watch whenever the mood takes and truly appreciate what it is. For me it would have to be Once upon a Time in America (1984) One film only please, it's harder than you think |

This is hard, we all love our movies a lot!
I'm really torn between Jaws and Goodfellas.... Goodfellas, just. Love everything about it. Story, the overvoice, the music, the actors, the beginning middle and end. The quotable lines, the background characters, the style. I love the decline and how the colours change like the mood, getting darker and the pace like Henrys head must be like at that time. It's a proper journey. I have watched this movie at least 50 times, will never bore me and I can enjoy it in any mood. Just writing this makes me want to watch it again. And it's a great disc, packed with extras. The fact that these things happened (or pretty close to), that these people and events where real make it even more fascinating. Tough one, but good thread. |

Star Wars (A New Hope).
Always has and always will be my favourite film. I can watch it anytime, anywhere on anything. Saw it on release when I was 11 years old and nearly 40 years later I get just as excited when I hear that opening fanfare ![]() |

Rear Window
I doubt any movie will ever knock it off the top spot. |

Damn. Came up with two:
Probably A Matter of Life and Death, but if I was feeling like being deliberately contrary I'd go with Bad Boy Bubby. EDIT: Make my choice A Matter of Life and Death. Always enjoy the Dark Knight and it's probably my most watched Blu-ray. However I nearly always turn it off after the (should have been) climatic Joker/Batman confrontation on the sky scrapper so I won't nominate that. So many titles, Time Bandits and Time After Time immediately come to mind as I type... Last edited by Fnord Prefect; 11-04-2016 at 02:54 PM. |

Buddy? Buddy!?! Bloody auto correct strikes again. Good spot, thank you. I'll correct it right now.

My favourite film and film I consider most perfect don't actually align.
I think the film that fits the OP's discription, for me, is Apocalypse Now. For a film that fits all accompanying themes married with exceptional storytelling, with the atmosphere only implemented through celluloid, it's a pretty perfect film. |
