Default Kids in the Hall: Brain Candy

This is a longshot for a Blu-ray release but Warner Archive owns the rights to it and so far has only released it on DVD.

I watched the DVD two weeks ago and though watchable the movie deserves better. I've seen this movie north of 50 times and likely closer to 100, one of my absolute favorites. It sucks that from what I can tell it hasn't made the leap to even digital HD.

IT WAS ONLY A COUPLE OF FLIPPER BABIES!

Luke warm, Chris?

This movie had so many quotable lines. Great film. I had it on laserdisc. They should be able to release a good quality blu.

Warner Archive owns the right? I thought it was Paramount?

Paramount owns it, Warner's released it on DVD when they had a distribution deal with them, but that's done, so Paramount can put it out if they want.

I wonder if it hits the truth too much about the pharmaceutical industry that Hollywood was paid to bury the film? Kind of like what Pass the Ammo did to the Church and televangelism.

Kids in the Hall Brain Candy was a Lakeshore Entertainment title that Paramount distributed for them, and in addition to various DVD releases was once available digitally on ITunes & Amazon with a decent HD transfer. It appears that Paramount's rights expired recently and it's availability pretty much dried up all over (aside from various high priced DVDs out there and HD "copies" on the web).

The rights are supposedly now fully owned by Lakeshore, so I imagine if they still licence out (considering their Image/RHL deal is probably set to expire as well) Arrow, Kino Lorber, or this unnamed third label that's working with them (rumored to be ether Shout! or MVD) would probably be good bets since they've all worked with Lakeshore in the past.

A huge amount of deleted scenes were cut from this film, and most of them are fantastic. I hope they still exist in celluloid
