For me, it's The BFG. Man, it was so flat and mild with no difference whatsoever. Kubo and the Two Strings was mild as well with the origami scenes looking decent. Independence Day: Resurgence was also a disappointment.

I was disappointed with the 3D in Ratchet & Clank. Mostly mild 3D with some hints of strong 3D for one or two short shots. Very disappointing 3D. The movie was fun though, so I didn't regret seeing it. BFG's 3D seemed medium with some mild, but no stronger than that, I'll agree. Star Trek Beyond's 3D, is my single most disappointment for the 3D though. Mostly mild 3D throughout. A few medium 3D shots. I had high expectations so that was my fault, having Star Trek Into Darkness' 3D as the standard for Beyond. Kubo looked like a good movie, though I skipped it due to the mild 3D previews. Favorite 3D in theaters for 2016 so far: TMNT 2 3D Warcraft 3D Wild Life 3D Doctor Strange 3D |

The Huntsman: Winter's War, Star Trek Beyond and Legend of Tarzan are the weakest of the bunch for me. Very disappointing. And I'm trying to remember the 3-D in Finding Dory, which isn't a good sign.
The year isn't over yet, but I'd say 2016 has been weaker than last year in terms of overall theatrical 3-D. Plenty of solid titles, few that really stand out. Of the films I've seen, the following have stuck in my memory (for 3-D only): 2016 Doctor Strange Warcraft Ghostbusters TMNT 2 Robinson Crusoe Almost made the list: Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, Suicide Squad 2015 Mad Max: Fury Road The Martian Star Wars: Force Awakens Ant-Man In the Heart of the Sea Everest The Walk Terminator: Genisys Almost made the list: Jurassic World, San Andreas |

I'm not sure about the weakest , but the dumbest 3D conversion had to be....

I'd class them both as decent. It's well past the point now where I honestly can't tell the difference between native 3-D and converted 3-D. The former is being used timidly while the latter has given us most of the best 3-D presentations of the past few years, IMO.

Sorry to nitpick but Seventh Son is not from this year! I thought the 3D in that was really impressive though!

Yeah the movie itself was a major disappointment to me but the 3D was actually quite good. What I did not like though was that "soft" look both the theatrical 3D and 3D Blu-ray version have.

Yeah that's definitely a stylistic choice. 300 Rise of an Empire does it too.

So many weak response to Star Trek Beyond. I guess I will stick with regular 1080p Blu-ray then.
