Call.Of.Duty.World.At.War.X360-xxxxxx.torrent
Upped today, 1600 peers! This is just on a private tracker... Methinks the piracy issue is much bigger than MS would like to admit, that is 1000 lost sales for Activision from just one torrent site. It went up on irc today and is spreading to other torrent sites as we speak. |

We all saw what happened with the PSP though, publishers dropped it good and proper, maybe PSP3000 will change that but it looks unlikely.
I'm not saying publishers will drop games for Xbox 360, definitely not right now, but if MS want to prolong the life of the 360 (which they do) to make money from it (which they definitely want to do!) this is not going to help... |

The next xbox needs to have an HD DVD drive since it would have the storage capacity needed but it couldn't be easily burned. |

I know people who were playing pirated copies of GTA4 with R* North employees and they are currently playing Gears 2 with Epic employees. MS just assume you are in some sort of private beta and leave you alone. Don't worry about these people though, they always buy the game on release day! |

MS don't have any real way of knowing whether your unit is hacked or not. Especially with the smarter hacks which hide themselves under inspection... I'm not saying you should hack your Xbox and pirate games, not one bit. I'm just saying it can be done and there is very little that MS can do about it to the ire of most game publishers... |

The PS3 isnt hacked for one major reason, for the majority of gaming, you can have a hacked wii, 360, psp, ds and have a plethora of games at your disposal. In fact, 95% of the PS3 games can be had on other platforms, and you can just buy the PS3 exclusives since there arent that many of them that are really worth it.
The PS3 isnt hacked yet not because its hacker proof, its because you get 95% of the games on the PS3 on the 360 and you get to play on xbox live. There is no demand for a hacked ps3 to play a handful of exclusives. And that will always hamper the PS3s hardware sales numbers worldwide compared to the competition. Plenty of people purchase 360s and have them hacked before its even powered on. That doesnt happen on the PS3. |

![]() There is no denying that the PS3 lacks exclusives, but the ones that it does have are of very good quality, and it is a regular complaint of my pirate friends that they have to wait until release date to play them or live in hope to make the beta (which most of them don't!)... |

IMO, the main benefit for the PS3 getting hacked would be native MKV support and the plethora of emulators that would be made for it. Imagine MAME with the power of the cell for emulation. Would be a treat. Pirating wise, there are so few exclusive PS3 games worth the effort, most people dont care. Which is why it remains unhacked. |

I'm sure it has nothing to do with needing a BD burner and blank media costing $20 a pop. |

When the PS1 was out, everyone had CD burners but not DVD burners. So when the PS2 came out, majority of people didn't have broadband yet so it was hard to d/l and DVD burners were still somewhat expensive. By the time the Xbox came out, DVD burner prices were dropping and broadband became more prevalent. Then the soft mod came out and all hell broke loose. Blu-ray burners and their file sizes are so large that it isn't worth it to pirate them. An image file for a BD movie is like 25GB. That takes forever to d/l compared to a regular DVD image at 4.7 or 8gb max. That's my reasoning why. |

With their numerous firmware updates Sony have removed many legitimate reasons for people to bust the system open. Giving the homebrew people Linux to play around on was the best thing they ever did, pirates by and large aren't very good hackers, homebrew people are. As long as they continue to have a Linux working environment for their homebrew efforts their is no legitimate reason to hack the PS3, and it should, in theory, remain unhacked. Although we all know theory and reality are two different things. |

Only in Japan is the PSP supported, how many western devs are making games for it. Even Ready at Dawn gave up and they are pretty much second party to Sony... |
