Yeah spotted it earlier. Glad some more Taika Waititi is coming to Blu-ray (though I've still got to get What We Do in the Shadows). Wish someone would finally acquire Boy over here though...

Great news for me given that the US release never seemed to materialize in ANY form.

EDIT: Apparently it did! Still $27's a bit pricey...

Yes. Hope they manage to get Under the Shadow out for a decent release as well.

EDIT: Hold on, Signature is releasing it? Hope they've finally sorted out their aspect ratio problems.

Noticed that this was added to Netflix today.

Seems odd that it's hit Netflix before the Blu-Ray release... a bit of a shame for it's sales potential.

Came on to Netflix on the 5th. Watched it this morning and loved it (my local cinema didn't show it). Definitely recommend it.

This site is good to see what is added to Netflix each day btw - https://uk.newonnetflix.info/

Delightful film. I imported the Aus release a while back.
For those who haven't got/seen it, and assuming the UK release is good, it's only £9 on Zoom with SIGNUP10 code.

I just watched the trailer there, on the frontpage of zoom.co.uk

Looks like great fun, £10 at Zoom (£9 with SIGNUP10 code). For comparison, it's £9.99 at HMV & Amazon.
EDIT: samdaman94 beat me to it.
EDIT2: Ordered.

This was good but I was very disappointed after the superb What We Do in the Shadows. That's my fault though and I shouldn't have been expecting a similar kind of comedy. Wilderpeople is much more like a Wes Anderson movie, someone I'm not a fan of really at all. It was good but I think WWDITS is ten times better, and it made me laugh a lot more.

Well - I have to say, I thought it was a majestical little movie

Watched it on Netflix with the other half last night and we both really enjoyed it. She wan't initially keen as she didn't like WWDITS (she didn't even finish watching it!), but thought Wilderpeople was excellent.

I can see this is more commercial (and pays less fan service) that Shadows... interesting that it sort of came and went, buried among bigger budget films I suppose.

Might have to pick up the BR now - anyone know if all the extras are featured (as the per the Auz version)?

Got the blu-ray in today, have uploaded a scan of the back cover but in the mean time the back reads;
Bloopers, Featurette, Director's Commentary, Making Of

EDIT: The "Making Of" is actually Behind the Scenes b-roll footage.

More people need to see this. It's a great movie. Charming, and very funny at times. Definitely one of 2016's better films in my opinion.

Thanks. Sounds the same as the Australian release - does it have a reversable cover? (the Aus release did - and it's a better image).

Fully agree - a great little movie (not perfect - but always charming, as you say) - the type of movie that made me want to see another in the same vein... fully agree that it was easily one on the hidden gems of last year.

No just a standard cover.
By the way, the back cover lists the runtime as 97m,
[Show spoiler]

but not to worry its runtime is 1:41:18 (amazing that companies are still printing PAL runtimes on blu-rays). Also the "Making Of" is actually Behind the Scenes b-roll footage.

The extras are as follows (added spoiler tabs just in case actor names or b-roll names are inadvertent spoilers);

Director's Commentary
Featurette - 3:21
Bloopers - 2:25
Interviews (total = 21:37)
[Show spoiler]
  • Taika Waititi - 5:40
  • Sam Neill - 3:20
  • Julian Dennison - 3:00
  • Rhys Darby - 3:05
  • Stan Walker - 0:26
  • Rima Te Wiata - 3:08
  • Karen Kay - 0:58
  • Cast & Crew Barry Crump Stories - 2:00

Behind the Scenes (total = 33:16)
[Show spoiler]
  • First Day of Principal Photography - 5:25
  • Broken Foot Camp - 2:39
  • Bush Ridge - 3:13
  • Bethels - 3:15
  • Psycho Sam - 3:16
  • Ohakune - 1:24
  • Desert Road - 5:25
  • Horopito motors - 2:24
  • Park Road Post - 6:15

Has the aspect ratio been cropped to 1.78 or is it the original 2.39:1?

Approx 2.39:1 from what I could tell. I watched it earlier, so can confirm that the disc has no playback issues (on my PS3 at least). Only reason I mention it, I had some bad luck at the end of 2016 with 2 problem discs in as many months.

English 5.1 & 2.0 tracks, an audio descriptive track and English HOH subtitles.
