Default The Wilderness Family

Anyone else like these movies? I loved these when I was kid back in the late 70's and early 80's.

There were three of these:
The Wilderness Family
The Wilderness Family Part 2
Mountain Family Robinson

Does anyone know the best version of these on bluray? It seems they're only available in R2

I loved these movies as a kid! At least the first two. For some reason, I only saw the third one a couple of times and never had it on VHS like the others. I have the first on DVD (original release) and managed to catch the second on a Starz channel over the summer. Still really fun family friendly adventure films.

I've seen them on German Blu-ray and think those are the only ones. I know at some point they were re-issued on DVD by Lionsgate (I think finally in widescreen) but the titles were altered. Not just on the packaging but within the films themselves, with the second and third retitled Adventures of the Wilderness Part 2 and Part 3 in order to match the original. (That's how Part 2 was when I saw it on TV recently, too. It was originally titled Further Adventures of the Wilderness Family.) Don't know if those Blu-rays are the same altered ones or not.

Wow.....totally forgot about those movies! I really enjoyed them as a kid. Wasn't there another one, or at least a similar movie, called Across the Great Divide?

They are all released on blu-ray in Germany separately and in a box set (slipcase and 3 amaray cases inside)

They are fully English friendly and presented in their original 1.33:1 aspect ratio. (The previous widescreen dvd was cropped to make it appear w/s)

The blu-rays are easily the best presentation of the films to date with decent colours hardly any damage and when I bought them cost me about £17 for the box set delivered to the UK although they seem to have slightly risen in price since.

Best of all the films still pretty much hold up

If you're looking for them you might need to search under Die Abenteuer der Familie Robinson in der Wildnis

Thank you very much for the information. I'll definitely be ordering the German Blus

Are the titles in the movies themselves still English in the German versions?

The on-screen movie titles are in English, the films themselves start up in German but are easily switched to English audio

The covers are all in German but are 2 sided with no German ratings logo on the reverse

These releases are unlikely to ever be matched and almost certainly won't be bettered and you'll be in for a treat with the transfers especially if you have only ever seen the SD prints
