This dysfunctional family and their beeping yellow Volkswagen made me laugh and cry at the same time in a way I didn't experience before. I loved all of it and all of them. Didn't think it would have the same effect a second time around, but it did. Multiple times. One of my all time faves. So I'm glad this voting list came up, if The Motorcycle Diaries didn't have that special place in my hart, Olive would be in first place.

For what it's worth, I was looking at that book again "100 Road Movies", a BFI screen guide, and it does include The Searchers. I suppose it's just one author's opinion though, so that is up to you.

I think for this genre it's better to include films set in a more modern setting, I'd say anything that takes place before 1900 probably does not qualify.

Especially of Costner, who I find criminally underrated, and I admire quite a lot also because he resisted three box-office bombs, each so big that one would have been enough to kill a career (I hope my English on this sentence was not so bad, let's hope the mistakes are less than 3).

Now the movie it's on my radar, I will see on first occasion!

Can I get some opinions on the eligibility of Apocalypse Now, The Night of the Hunter, The Terminator, Kill Bill and No Country For Old Men? They all feel a bit "roady," but I can understand why they might be excluded...
