Default Which is a better sequel, Lethal Weapon 2 or Die Hard 2?

Both great first sequels to 80's action classics but which is better and why? I would struggle to choose between the two but I'm interested to hears others thoughts.

Lethal Weapon 2. Though Die Hard 2 is a good sequel, it does get quite ridiculous at times (and it's basically the first film on a plane). Lethal Weapon 2 at least raises the stakes like a good sequel should do.

Besides, the best Die Hard sequel is still Die Hard with a Vengeance.

Lethal Weapon 2 for me is the more enjoyable film. Die Hard 2 is a solid sequel but think it falls a little short of Riggs and Murtough's antics.

I like Die Hard 2 (though agree with Buscemi that DHWAV is the best DH sequel) but Lethal Weapon 2 is better as a sequel in that in builds on elements of the first to further develop the characters, especially Riggs, and gets a little darker and more serious, without losing that Lethal Weapon charm.

Lethal Weapon 2 by a mile, it's looser and more fun than its predecessor.

Die Hard 2 was my least favorite Die Hard movie until A Good Day To Die Hard came out and easily surpassed it as the weakest entry.Die Hard With A Vengeance is good fun and Live Free Or Die Hard is underrated. Still, there's only one classic here and that's Die Hard.

Lethal, by a mile. Went to see that one in theaters about a dozen times.

I agree. Lethal Weapon 2 is the better of the two. Never get tired of watching that. Whereas Die Hard 2 has worn a bit thin on me over the years. LW2 opens up right out of the gate - action, humor right in your face. DH2, while still good, just feels tired and mundane on repeat viewings. I saw both in the theater, but LW2 has had more of a lasting impact and is still one of the best sequels of all time.

Still remember the theater playing a music video during the previews when I saw LW2 that summer - Grayson Hugh's cover of that ONJ song - "Cant we talk it over". I remember thinking then - 'who? never heard of this guy' - but as it played I remembered the song from ONJ.

LW2. I still think DH2 is the least good McClane adventure. Yeah, that includes the last one.

I enjoy Die Hard 2, but Lethal Weapon 2 is leaps and bounds the superior sequel. Lethal Weapon overall is a better and more consistent franchise than Die Hard for that matter.

Lethal Weapon 2, by miles. It has the right balance between humour and action and has some brilliant lines. DH2 is just a poor photocopy of the original, (except someone shredded it and attempted to piece it back together again before copying it, hence it's missing something).

In before Geoff D spurts all over DH2...

That is true but that's only because the Die Hard franchise includes A Good Day to Die Hard which is like having Batman & Robin be part of your franchise!

Yes, A Good Day to Die Hard is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. I do enjoy Live Free or Die Hard but I would also state that any of the Lethal Weapon sequels are superior than that as well.

See I don't think Live Free or Die Hard is any good but the best thing to happen to it was A Good Day to Die Hard. Suddenly it A) looks a lot better and B) isn't the worst in the franchise anymore!

It was too tempting to do a list, I couldn't help myself!

1. Die Hard
2. Lethal Weapon
3. Lethal Weapon 2
4. Die Hard 2
5. Die Hard With A Vengeance
6. Lethal Weapon 3
7. Lethal Weapon 4
8. Live Free or Die Hard
9. A Good Day to Die Hard

DH2 above DHWAV?

lol Uwotm8?

I don't think any of Renny Harlin's action flicks have aged very well, with maybe the exception of Cliffhanger, (a DH ripoff, oddly enough). Tried to watch The Long Kiss Goodnight recently, (a film which I've enjoyed), and had to turn it off an hour in. It was excruciating.
